A LITTLE ABOUT US

The information that you will find on the pages of this site was designed and created for the support of law enforcement officers, their families, and friends due to our own personal experiences. We have created each section of Angels In Blue with a specific target in mind. Through hard work, dedication, and the love for each other, we have overcome many hardships and have specifically dedicated our lives to helping other officers. What you read on our pages regarding our experiences is real. In our short time together we have endured everthing from the death of our son, the molestation of our daughter, the court system, and much more. There is life after tragedy and it happens to more than just one person.

Jeff is a full time police officer with Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority in Cleveland, Ohio. He has also been previously employed as a Deputy for the Seneca County Ohio SO and as a patrolman for the Bloomville Ohio PD and Newburgh Hts Ohio PD. Jeff has a degree in Law Enforcement/Police Science from Terre Technical College. He spends most of his time on the computer collecting patches or working for Parents Against Child Abuse. Born and raised in a strict Christian Baptist family, he continues to practice his faith. Jeff grew up in a small town, where morals and family values still prevail, outside Sandusky Ohio with a population of approximately 700 people. Jeff has two sisters and a brother who is a Baptist Preacher. Jeff earned a full ride scholarship when he was a junior in high school for football. He graduated from a Christian Academy and decided to enter into his field of his childhood dreams-law enforcement. He can usually be found chatting in one of the Angels In Blue support chatrooms when he is off duty.

Laura volunteers her time doing Drug and Alcohol Awareness and is finishing a degree in Community Mental Health specializing in Chemical and Drug Dependency/Victim Advocacy and previously worked for the Cuyahoga County SO and the FBI. She is currently employed in the local middle school and helps children learn the internet. She has also worked as an educational aide for elementary aged children who are at risk for learning disabilities. She is also be active in the PoliceWives Organization as a part of the Crisis Response Team and Hearts and Shields. Born into a military family, she travelled until her father retired as Senior Chief in the Coast Guard and resided in Cleveland as a Hearing Officer until a few years ago. Her mother retired from the Internal Revenue Service shortly after. Her sister works for the Parma Municipal Court as a Deputy Chief Clerk of Courts. Laura is a Certified Nurses Aide and is also planning to finish another degree in Respiratory Therapy.

We met in 1993 and were married in December of 1994. To fulfill a dream of Jeff's, we decided to have a law enforcement wedding. Officers from the departments that Jeff has worked on lined the aisle in full dress. Guess one could say that law enforcement is our life. If you're ever in Cleveland area, stop on by for a patch trade. Jeff's love for collecting has been sentenced to the basement--including the double traffic light he purchased at the city auction.

We are the proud parents of Kayleigh, age 14. Although Kayleigh is Laura's child from another marriage, Jeff is actively seeking to adopt her. After the loss of our son, we decided to become foster parents. We currently have a completed homestudy and are a certified foster/adoptive placement home. We are experienced foster parents and are looking forward to adopting and still trying to have another child of our own. We also share our home with quite a few pets (affectionately referred to as our petting zoo).

In our spare time we volunteer for many civic organizations. Jeff and Kayleigh previously belonged to the Indian Princess/Senior Princess Organization which is a group for Dad's and Daughters. He served as an elected officer with our daughter. He is also a member of the Greater Cleveland Emerald Society. In the fall, Jeff coaches Tri-City League Youth Football and Laura coaches the cheerleaders. In addition to volunteering for MADD, Laura is also active in PTA (promoting Safety and Drug/Alcohol Awareness) both at the local level and at the council level for the city. Laura is also the Parent Educational Representative for the Junior High. We both have actively promoted Red Ribbon Week for our city organizing events in the schools. These days, our daughter is involved in cheerleading and lettered on the track team. She is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Jeff and Laura remain active in the groups that they have founded. Hearts and Shields is a support group for spouses of police officers. Parents Against Child Abuse was designed as a result of our own experiences and aides those who have been abused or know someone who has been abused. Bears4Kidz is our latest group which hopefully will collect Teddy Bears for abused children and donated to police departments. Jeff created The Patch for the purpose of meeting and trading with collectors of law enforcement patches and other memorabilia.

All groups that we belong to are non-profit organizations and are strictly done on a volunteer basis. No publicity or thanks for anything we do is needed. We just believe in our hearts that we all need someone to turn to or a safe haven to visit.
