Eyes of the guillotined were staring into nothing.

Eyes of the gassed and gunned were staring into nothing.

Eyes of the savages with machetes, gas and guns were staring into nothing.

Eyes of all who wield the blades and gas and guns are staring into nothing.

Eyes that see the eyes before they die but don't react are staring into nothing.

Eyes that see but bodies, emaciated, whole or hacked in parts are staring into nothing.

Eyes that see but blood, feces and pis* flowing from flesh's fears are starring into nothing.

Eyes that see no horrors in unfinished dreams or even nightmares' visions and their screams

Are staring into nothing.

Eyes could not see until they looked into the mirror eyes of hate staring into nothing.

Eyes did not see a person; they only saw a thing while staring into nothing.

Eyes saw no twilight's loss of common dreams.

Eyes saw no pleading echoes of their victims' screams.

Eyes were dead to dreaming.

Eyes were dead to fear.

Eyes were dead to sharing.

Eyes were sharing as the Pope's.

Eyes looked away chagrined.

And then eyes understood.

Eyes saw we shared but one thing, one thing great or small.

Eyes all could look at others and see nothing at all.

Eyes all could look at others with eyes right through us all.

Eyes all could look at others as but dead concrete things.

Eyes saw just some samples of abstractions like "people," "Pope" and kings,

Eyes saw not friends in trouble, in need or sharing joy,

Eyes could look at others as they do at just a corpse, not at a living being but at a frozen stone.

Eyes then saw and understood how we can see our victims' eyes and still see nothing more.
