Detecting the traces of populations
from Anatolia & the Caucasus
in living
Albanians
Clarification
& Disclaimer:
-
Nobody is asserting that all extant (contemporary / living)
Albanians or even most extant Albanians conform to the physical types in
question. Only that many do & that this is observable to
non-Albanian populations or anyone with a trained eye..
-
Nobody is asserting that the Dardanians (the original bearers of Albanian
culture, language & identity) were originally of these physical types
before they migrated from the Indo-European homeland into Anatolia & the
Caucasus. They were Nordic before they left the I-E homeland in S. Russia.
-
Nobody is asserting that these Asiatic types are such because they are
dark-skinned, black-eyed or black-haired. Skin, hair & eye color do not
factor in to this system of classification. It is the architecture of the face
that is paramount.
European
vs Asiatic Dinaricism:
The Asiatic types below are
uncommon morphologic re-emergences resulting from random genetic
re-combinations that govern all organisms. They do not seem to have any
selective value. What makes these particular random re-combinations so
interesting is that the morphologic type in question is more common outside of
Europe. This is interesting for a European population, such as the Albanians.
The common Dinaricism of
the Albanians (as opposed to the “Extreme” Dinaricism of the Old-Montenegrin
Serbs or the common Dinaricism of other European populations) - is
obviously Asiatic, rather than European. This can be observed by comparing
Albanian Dinaric sub-types with Asiatic & European Dinaric sub-types.
Serbs,
Greeks and Italians are familiar with what is typically called “the Albanian
face”. Although the term itself is not specific at all and certainly not
scientific, it denotes a generally un-European facial architecture that is
observable to others, including Albanians themselves, although Albanians would
never admit or might not even be conscious of how un-European some Albanians
look.
Explaining
Asiatic Dinaricism among extant Albanians:
These un-European sub-types are re-emergences of populations that the Dardanians absorbed into their tribal corpus as they migrated out of the Indo-European homeland into Anatolia & the Caucasus, where these types are more common than anywhere else Europe. The existence of these Asiatic sub-types in a European population such as the Albanians can only be explained along these lines.
These types did not enter Albania
in the Ottoman period. There were always enough Serbs and Albanians back then
who converted to Islam and provided the basis for Ottoman occupation that the
Turks never needed to import Anatolians in a number even remotely large enough
o affect the balance of the population .

DARDO-SHQIPETAR MIGRATIONS WITHIN
ILLYRIA:
I have
not yet traced their migrations within the Balkans from Dardania into western
Illyria. We know that a branch of them went to Dalmatia, gave that region its
name but left no other traces of influence. The names of the Dardani,
Dalmati, Taulanti, Enchelei, Chelidoni tribes of Bosnia & Dalmatia are
etymologically Dardo-Shqipetar. Yet unlike among the Dardanians, only
Illyrian & Celtic names occur among that last 3 tribes & cannot be
etymologically related to Shqip.
Even in
the Balkans, the Dardanians were still a ruling class of culture-bearing
warriors. As they branched out westward from Dardania into Illyrian lands, they
provided their capable leadership to at least 4 / 20 Illyrian-speaking tribes.
Like the Balkan Bulgars and the Serboi & Chorvatos in
north-eastern Europe, these mobile culture-bearing tribes gave their identity
& leadership to peoples whose language they gladly assimilated.
EXPLAINING
"ALBANOID" SERBS:
How else
do you explain living "albanoid" Serbs, especially in Bosnia & Dalmatia?
We know that an archaic form of Shqip survived in Bosnia in isolated pockets
until the Middle Ages. Coon states in his autobiography that these
Albanian-speakers migrated to Ghegeria in the Ottoman period, when he claims
that a massacre de-populated Ghegeria. I highly doubt it because he doesn't
cite his sources & I haven't seen this event documented anywhere and I've
looked.
I've seen
"albanoid" Italians and "albanoid" Greeks. You have an
example of an "albanoid" Scotsman, Christopher Eccleston. These
re-emergences may be observed in small numbers anywhere in European populations
where Anatolian populations of stone & metal workers identical to the kind
absorbed by the Dardanians - traveled during the Bronze Age (Bibby).
The
Dardic Galabri & Sardinians impacted Italian morphology and the Dardic
Dalmati, Taulanti, Enchelei, Chelidoni
(see: Bibby, Wilkes) impacted Serb morphology - minimally - because
these culture bearing Dardic tribes were male-dominated warriors that branched
out from the Thraco-Illyrian border, where the Dardanians first settled
permanently and married into peripheral Illyrian & Thracian populations.
1 / 50
Serbs probably look "albanoid" (2%). So I would explain
"albanoid" Serbs as resulting from the post-Slavic assimilation of
Illyrian-speaking tribes that came under the political control of
Shqip-speaking Dardic tribes that had previously been assimilated into the
Illyrian-speaking population of the few tribes that came under Dardic control.
This re-emergence is just a random genetic re-combination resulting in a
particular morphology. What makes these variations interesting compared to
other variations is that the morphology is not characteristically European -
but Asiatic.
NORDIC
DARDANIAN MORPHOLOGY vs ASIATIC / BALKAN DARDANIAN MORPHOLOGY:
The
Dardanians were Nordic before they left the Aryan homeland in S. Russia. By the time they reached E.
Anatolia, they are represented on Hittite tablets as being brown-haired,
(Bibby). As these tribes were composed of men, we see a Nordic tribe losing its
homogenous blondness as a result of hybridization with the local female
population of archaic, dark-haired Mediterraneans of the Caucasus.
Where did
the Dardanians go? What route did they take westward? The northern Black Sea
route? The southern Mediterranean
route? Or did they stay inland? Where inland? I can answer all of that only
with an international directory of cities & towns. Either way, Anatolia
(especially the Capadoccia region near the Caucasus) was a melting pot of linguistic
& sub-racial diversity and the cradle of the most archaic form of
dinarization still visible in living populations. I can't answer anything for
sure without an international directory of cities & towns.
By the
time they reached Troy app: 1200 AD, we can safely infer that the Dardanian
physical type was further diluted from its original Nordic type through the
absorption of local populations. If they were so quick to lose their homogeneity after traveling
a few hundred kilometers from the Aryan homeland - we can implicitly conclude
that the Dardanians had assimilated Anatolian elements as they moved further
west before they eventually reached Troy & the Bosphorus, giving us the
name, Dardanelles. So, even before they entered the Balkans, Dardo-Sqiptar
morphology was Asiatic; being reflective of the types of local populations they
had absorbed in their migrations.
CONCUSIONS:
These Asiatic variations
are now characteristic of living Albanians.
Whether it manifests
itself in the Balkans, Iberia, Britain or anywhere in Europe, I designate this
type as “albanoid” because its appearance in Europe is always marked
with minor characteristics from the local European population that
differentiate this sub-type from its Asiatic parent sub-stock and because
it is predominant in Albania more than anywhere else.
That doesn't mean that all
or most Albanians look "albanoid". It means that this
particular morphology is represented by a significant enough number of
individual Albanians, so that Serbs, Greeks & Italians can easily recognize
it in Albanians in their midst for that exact reason. It is recognizable to
anyone with a trained eye.
Unlike
other European populations, The albanoid Dardic impact on Albanian
morphology was maximal - because enough living Albanians descend from the
settled and thus more homogenous Dardanians of Dardania proper on the
Thraco-Illyrian border to make a bigger and more lasting genetic impact that
also helped preserve the Dardanian satem language (Shqip) &
identity (Shqipetar) - neither of which are etymologically
Illyrian/centum.
