Premature Investigation

On the heels of the Democrat National Committee and Communist Chinese fundraising scandal report by the Cox Committee, Democrats want the Cox Commission to investigate potential campaign spending, possibly beneficial to Republicans, that may occur in the 2000 elections. Democrats charge that if they happen they may, according to Democrat Leaders, violate the law.

It's absolutely amazing to me that in the midst of actual crimes of campaign corruption on the part of the Communist Chinese and the Democrat National Committee the leadership of that organization will actually attempt to launch investigations of activities that haven't even happened yet!

I am eagerly awaiting Democrat announcements that they will also investigate the murders of individuals before they happen, charge people with J-walking before stepping onto the sidewalk, and issue speeding tickets before drivers start their cars.

I hope the American people will see through this shallow and empty attempt at avoiding accountability and deflecting attention from their own party's misdeeds

Fundraising organizer, Karl Gallant, said his fund meets all federal election laws and mirrors issue advocacy campaigns by organized labor. ``It absolutely amazes me that Big Labor can go out and mobilize liberal votes ... but suddenly conservatives don't have First Amendment rights,'' he said Thursday, adding that the AFL-CIO's advocacy campaign had earned his ``grudging admiration'' and induced him to emulate their efforts.

In 1996, the AFL-CIO contributed $35 million to Democrat campaigns in an attempt to help Democrats take control of Congress. Union leadership indicates that they plan to spend over $40 million for television ads and get-out-the-vote activities next year.
