An Angel From Above

I'm just a little puppy girl

I did not ask to come to this world

I live in a puppymill, better known as hell

They frigthen my puppies, I can't stand the smell

I hear the other dogs all around

My feet have never touched the ground

All the others poor in their cages

They break my jaw if I show rage

One day I was near dead

I was so weak I could barely move my head

A door barge open, a girl came in, just one

It was as though she brought the sun

She opened the cage and took me out

She laid me in a bag, I hear the other dogs shout

Then my little pupies came down to me

I wondered if they where alright, I can barely see

She ran so far, as fast as she could, cursing the laws

For the first time I felt the wind on my paws

Who was this Angel? I can barely see her face

She took me away from the place

Now I can hear some men, they scream

I'm starting to tremble, they are the mean

We're in the woods, away we run

My angel took me to land of sun

Now I lie snuggled in a soft huge bed

I'm alright, I'm healthy free and fed

I watch my puppies all six they play

Let me tell about that day

My rescuer took the chance of being caught

She stole me from the puppymill

Thanks to her heart and strongest will

She walked in the door, I jump and lick her hand

She loves me more than I can understand

Like this is where Heaven must be

No one has taken better care of me

She calle me by Angel, I guess it's my name

And when she calls I come all the same

My puppies so beautiful, they are alright

I never wonder if they'll die this night

They don't need to fight for scraps of food

Here we live like royalty, in overflood

Each and every nigh we sleep in the big bed

I sleep on the pillow, right by mum's head

Sometimes at night I dream so bad

I'm back at the puppymill and I get sad

Then I feel the softest touch by a hand

With lots of love to share

She makes me feel loved,

I have nothing more to fear.

This is a tribue to Angel, the Yorkshire Terrier I stole from a puppy mill along

with her puppies -- Magic, Princess, Heavenly, Babyface, Miracle and Joy.

One sunny day I was walking in a wood outside where I live; I normally never go there because if you go too far, you'll end up in the next county. Well, this day I just went and went.

I approached what looked like a farm, until I saw all the cages outside. When I got even closer I saw poor dogs; skinny, starved, sick and some were dead, not yet removed. I got tears in my eyes as I said to myself I had to take some of them away from this hell.

I explored the area.  As if it was God-sent the farm was empty, no human in sight. I went through a door on the other side of a barn, and what met me shall never leave my memory.

It was the most horrible sight I have ever seen, the smell was disgusting.  With tears flowing down my face I looked for something to hold the dog I was to take.  I found an old baby bag that had been left on the outside.  I took my jacket off and put in the bottom of it to make it soft. I once again went into the shelter.  I looked at the cages and I saw so many I just wanted to scream and run out and throw up, but I didn't.

I saw this little dog laying down, she had six puppies that looked like they were dead. I opened the cage, knowing I had to move fast as the owners could come back anytime.  I lifted them out one by one, closed the cage and ran.  I ran through the wood back home, but I was discovered by the men. They ran after me for a while, but gave up.

When I got home first I phoned the vet as I was not sure if they were dead or alive.  And then I called the cops.  You see I don't live in the USA, I live in Europe, and the land I live in there is not allowed puppymills, nor to sell dogs in pet stores, though some do anyway.   The men behind the puppymill got 5 years in jail, and a fine.

Now all of the puppies but one are dead. The last little one is Princess but I soon have to put her down due to heart problems.  I will never forget how Angel came into my life and her puppies, if I could do it over I wouldn't hesitate.

I love you little girl of mine,

I miss you more than words can tell,

I hope they put and end to puppymills

So no more like you should suffer anything.

Until we meet again on Rainbow Bridge.
