Although the Soviets felt it best to do such experiments off planet, on their moon base, the CIA felt that their mastery of mystism and science could control the unholy forces.

Of course, the CIA had originally built many Pentagon structures, but all but one have subsequently been erased from history by being sucked into the very black holes they sought to control.
