GERMAN OPERATION ZONE ALPENVORLAND

In 1943, after their occupation of Italy, the Germans - for strategical reasons - placed the provinces of Belluno, Bolzano and Trento under their direct rule. (1) (1) Both last provinces corresponded to South Tyrol, annexed by Italy after the first world war. ____________________________________________________________________________
