MANITOBA
CANADIAN PROVINCE OF MANITOBA
In 1870, at the moment of the annexation of Rupert's Land to Canada, some of
its southern parts - including the District of Assiniboia, the most populated
zone - were detached from it to become the Manitoba Province of Canada. (1)
(1) At the moment of its creation the province only included a small,
southern, part of present-day Manitoba. It was only in 1912, after
the annexation of part of the District of Keewatin, that the present
frontiers were established.
