NEVADA

U.S. STATE OF NEVADA

In 1861 the western parts of the U.S. Territory of Utah - augmented with some parts of New Mexico Territory - were organised as the new U.S. Territory of Nevada, which three years later became a State of the Union. (1) (1) The creation of the territory was linked to the "gold rush" of 1859 which had been followed by the founding of many lawless mining towns ____________________________________________________________________________
