ABT Implementation and Customization

On-Project Duration: August 1, 2000 till today.

Client: Mastek Ltd.
Software tools : ABT-Results Management Suite 5.1, Visual Basic 6.0, SQL-Server 7.0, ASP, VBScript, JavaScript, DHTML, Visual Interdev, IIS, MTS, Visual Source Safe, J-mail, Seagate Crystal Reports, TeeCharts.
Project Scope:
The system is a complete project management system, which has been purchased from ABT Corporation (http://www.abtcorp.com). It includes facility for a Project to adopt a particular Project Management model, create a new model or modify it to a complete new Process Model. It includes planning, scheduling, estimation, tracking, reporting and maintaining a repository of a Project. It has Web-enabled modules for Timesheet and Chart representation of data captured.The product needs to be customized for use by projects across Mastek. The Client Server version involves developing of modules in Visual Basic and COM through native API provided by the product. The Web development involves using ASP and Scripting to add new charts for data analysis.
Role Played : As a developer and consultant handling the application customization development. Providing functional design related inputs. Providing technical assistance to team wherever required.
Special Achievement: The complexities handled by me in this project have given me the confidence to work on any kind of project and deliver it to the best of results.
Modules Developed / Tasks done:

  • Developed the Generator module to generate the WBS (plan) in line with the process adopted by Mastek. The ABT Workbench then schedules plan so generated.
  • Provided inputs in design and specification changes during the development phase.
  • Provided a three-tier design for the calculation of various project metrics calculations.
  • Proving technical assistance on VB and ASP for implementation to team members.
  • Provided implementation and support of the entire application suite.

OURS (Onsite Utilization Reporting System)

On-Project Duration: August 18, 2000 - August 31, 2000.

Client: Majesco Inc. (A subsidary of Mastek Ltd.)
Software tools : ASP, SQL-Server 7.0, VBScript, JavaScript, DHTML, Visual Interdev, IIS, Visual Source Safe, J-mail.
Project Scope
            The system helps in automating the process of managing contract information, allocating resources to contracts, timesheet capturing of the resources involved and generating various reports for analysis of Billing and Contract Information. Client Server version is implemented in PB and SQL Server and web version uses ASP.The Web version is currently in the first Phase involving the development of facility to enter Timesheets and approval of the same by Manager and/or clients through the Internet.
Role Played: As a developer and consultant handling the web application development of the Timesheet Approval Module. Providing technical advise on the flow and implementation of the Web module and technical assistance to the team wherever required.
Modules Developed / Tasks done:

  • Developed Timesheet approval module with dynamic search facility.
  • Modified Timesheet Entry module to suit requirements.
  • Provided the design for the approval screen and its method of implementation for displaying records in a hierarchical manner.
  • Providing technical assistance on ASP, JavaScript and for implementation. 

ARTS (Automated Request Tracking System)

On-Project Duration: October 1999 - August 2000.
Current Team Size: 6
Client: Mastek Ltd. and its customers.
Software tools: ASP, SQL-Server 6.5/7.0, VBScript, JavaScript, DHTML, Visual Interdev, IIS, Visual Source Safe, SSL, Tee-Charts (ActiveX), Jmail, ASP-Upload.
Project Scope:
            The system helps in automating the process of managing a project. It caters to the following: Capture of Customer request, Review/Proposal, Estimation, Scheduling, Timesheets, Release Planning, Capture of Defects in the process. Client Server version is implemented in PB and SQL Server and web version uses ASP.
            The Web version is for the customer to view the project status based on QUEST parameters in the form of charts and reports. It also has facilities for timesheet entry and defects logging for projects. The web version was one of the first Web projects implemented at Mastek and used as a tool for gathering data for CMM-Level 4. This application has now been implemented with SSL and is also accessible from the Internet at arts.mastek.com.
Role Played: Single developer handling the web application development. Major responsibility for the web version for development, testing, documentation, configuration management and support.
Special Achievements: Learned effective and quality coding practices. Learned Testing related skills and Project related processes. Got a Pat on Back award from Project Manager for support provided for onsite implementation. The system has helped project teams at Mastek for better Project Management.
Modules Developed / Tasks done:

  • Involved in Development of Web Timesheet Module to facilitate user timesheet entry from Web.
  • Developed Defect Entry module from web with practically very less inputs and proactively.
  • Provided Dynamic Defect Detail Report facility from Web.
  • Implemented changes throughout the application to facilitate all client-server reports through Web with Access control added to each option.
  • Added new reports from Web - Consolidated reports and Request Status Report.
  • Provided support for onsite implementation at USA and UK.
  • Developed New Metrics based Charts, and Defect Entry and Timesheet entry modifications for CMM 5 Requirements
  • Modified Chart to display Inventory of Requests.
  • Access control throughout the project based on user login.
  • Done porting, testing and modifying the application to work on SQL Server 7.0 for onsite.
  • Modified all Charts (QUEST-based) from the Web to provide accurate data.
  • Developed Web timesheet locking and logging facility.
  • Developed Quality Dial to provide Weighted and Non-weighted Leakage.
  • Made consistent proactive changes to the Web application interface like dynamic Menu with access control, etc.
  • Proactively made changes to allow for better performance, resource management through proper use of Sessions.
  • Implemented Test Plans, Testing, Documentation, Help and Configuration Management for all of the above modules.


Advanced Information Repository Management System

Project Duration: August 1999 - September 1999.
Cient: Mastek Ltd.
Team Size: 8
Software tools: Visual Basic 6.0, SQL Server 7.0, VB Data Reports, MTS.
Project Scope:
The system is currently implemented at Mastek Ltd. It keeps track of books being issued to employees. It has facilities whereby the employee can place claims on the multiple books, which is customizable. The system also helps in managing the Information Repository by helping in Budgeting for books, managing for lost and removed books, sending reminders via email facility through the system and also keeping track of the reminders sent. A special feature of the system is that it is implemented as a three-tier system using ActiveX Dlls.
Role Played : As a team member for design, development, implementation and support.
Special Achievement: Got a Team Pat on Back Award from Project Leader for quick development and successful implementation. Learned to work under demanding time schedules. Learned team-working skills. The system has helped in maintaining a large number of books and reduced manpower load.

PrimeModels.com

Client: PowerWeave Ltd.
Software Tools: ASP, VBScript, JavaScript, SQL Server, Jmail, ASP-Upload, Windows NT.
Project Scope:
         
www.PrimeModels.com is a website that performs the role of coordinator between the aspiring models and the advertisement agencies/clients. The models log in and post their portfolios on the site. The personal information of the models is collected along with the photographs. Prospective clients log in the website and search for models suiting their requirements. The selection criteria have a wide range. The search results provide a feature to add/remove models to its shortlist. The site keeps a track of the hit rate of all its clients / models. The summary of which model was selected for which assignment is maintained. Based on the same, models / customers are rated as preferred models / customers. On-line contests are another salient feature of this website.
Role Played: As a Requirement analyzer, system and database designer, developer and implementer.
Special Achievement: Learned issues involved in a dot-com project and also about certain technicalities.
Modules Developed / Tasks Done:

  • Understanding Requirements from Customer and implementation issues.
  • Database and system design.
  • Developed the complete model registration, login and profile editing module.
  • Developed the search result module to display page-wise results.
  • Developed the Shortlist module integrated with the search result module. Implementation and support.

 

Other Projects


Speaker Independent Isolated Word Recognition using VQ and HMM.

Project Duration: As part of Final Year B.E Curriculum.              Team Size: 3
Software tools: C
Project Scope:
            The Project was a basic Speech to Text converter. It is supposed to be trained by a set of speakers for a fixed set of words during training phase. During Recognition phase, when a speaker speaks one of the words, the recognizer should display the spoken word.
Role Played: As a team member for research on the subject and developing.
Special Achievement: Learned about the techniques for Speech Recognition.
Tasks Done: Collecting and Researching data for required for the mechanism of speech recognition. Development of basic modules for speech acceptance and analysis.

Computerized Airways Reservation System.

Project Duration: As part of NIIT institute Curriculum.                 Team Size: 2
Software tools: The front-end was using C++ and back-end was Sybase and on Unix platform.
Project Scope:
            Computerized airways reservation system included reservation, cancellation, ticketing and refund system.
Role Played: As a team member for developing of the modules in C++.
Tasks Done: Analysis of the requirements. Development of the complete front-end interface and database design. Use of class features of C++.
