EPIPHANY.

Have you ever had a moment in your life when everything seemed to be "just right"? A time where you couldn't think of anything to worry about and your life just seemed to be headed in the right direction?

An epiphany is a moment of great mental clarity and vision, when all is right in your world and it just seems like everything is just going to keep getting better. Maybe this is something that you have experienced before and maybe it's something that you need to work towards. Either way, an Epiphany is a powerful source of motivation for your life as a whole

Work, family, health, relationships, emotional and intellectual development are just some of the aspects of our lives that we constantly seek to improve, but to what end? Philosophers like to tell us about enjoying life's journey, rather than focussing on the various destinations, but some of those little "destinations" along the way are pretty important. To truly enjoy the journey of life, you must savor the moments that you will remember until the end.

Those little moments in time when the grass was greener, the air smelled sweeter and every bite of food was delicious. These moments can be dramatic and public, like winning a competition or starting a successful business. They can also be very personal and private, like your first kiss or getting a great idea.

An epiphany is not an "every day" event, otherwise it wouldn't have the same impact. There will be a finite number of these moments in your life, so when it happens, wallow in the experience. Some Epiphanies will last longer than others, but usually they are fleeting. Take a deep breath, look around you and focus on anything that will help you remember: a sight , a smell or a taste. If you can find something to keep as a souvenir, do it!

A turning point in your life can be crucial in determining your direction. If you can vividly remember it on rainy days, when you are tired and there work to be done, flashing back to your Epiphanies can also help you get there.

The biggest motivational aspect of an Epiphany can be that it hasn't happened yet. Not satisfied with some part(s) of your life? The first thing to do is not to try to fix everything that's wrong, but picture your life with everything right. Close your eyes and imagine yourself living a life that is exactly as you'd like it to be. Envision your own "perfect world" with everything that you want and need available to you. You have all the money you want, your relationships are healthy and so are your mind and body. You've read all those books that you've been meaning to read, traveled to exotic lands, tasted the best food and you are highly skilled in your chosen field. You have no major problems or concerns and every day is better than the last.

Now, take a good, honest look at your life and compare it to the life you have, does it seem like there is a lot of work to do? Well, just remember how all those wonderful points in your life felt as you experienced them, then imagine what your future Epiphanies will be like as you create the life you want. Now, get back to work!
