Hits the books on screen and off
Name: Cassie Steele
Age: 14
Current or upcoming project: Degrassi: The Next Generation
TV Guide: Where were you born and/or raised?
Cassie Steele: I was born and raised in Scarborough, Ont., and lived there my whole life.
TVG: Where do you live now?
CS: I live in Scarborough, Ont.
TVG: What was your favourite TV show as a kid?
CS: My favourite TV show as a kid was Batman, the real-life version, or Spider-man, the cartoon.
TVG: What's your favourite TV show now?
CS: My favourite show now is That '70s Show or Family Guy.
TVG: Where's your favourite place to work, be that your favourite part of the world or favourite room in the house?
CS: My favourite place to work would definitely be my bedroom; it gives me so much inspiration from all the magazine articles and pictures taped on the wall. It's also like my diary because it's where I go to think things through and I always feel like my walls are listening to my thoughts. So it's not only my favourite place to work, but also my favourite place to be.
TVG: What was your first role as an actor?
CS: My first role was in a commercial for channel PBS as the letter T.
TVG: What is your dream role?
CS: My dream role is to play an old comic book action star like Vampirella. They don't make her comics anymore, but I still like to read her old ones.
TVG: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
CS: I can't say for sure, but acting is where I want to be in 10 years because I love it so much. I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
TVG: If you weren't a performer, what would you be doing?
CS: I would probably be writing original scripts or songs for other people to sing.
TVG: Who's your favourite actor or actress working today?
CS: My favourite actor working today would be Johnny Depp. He's amazing. He recreates himself for every role he plays so that you can't even find a trademark of the work he does. He's truly an artist.
TVG: What's a celebrity perk that you've enjoyed, or a great thing that's happened to you as a result of your celebrity?
CS: I don't think that I'm close enough as to call myself a real celebrity, but a definite perk from being on Degrassi is how many people can relate to the characters we portray on the show, and the fans who let you the difference you've made for them.
