July 23, 2001 Another day with improved counts! There still aren't any *mature* white blood cells showing, but the immature ones are there, so we hope for the best. Shay has already done her physical therapy and got to paint a bisque flower planter shaped like a frog for the Cancer Institute. They are having kids paint them and will auction them off later this year. We did find out that her gluclose levels are fairly elevated, so they are adding insulin to her TPN. The doctor said that she probably won't be diabetic when this is over, but that is always a chance. She has lost a little water weight -- down almost two pounds from yesterday but still up quite a bit total. So, more diuretics. Her mouth is starting to slough *really* badly -- she keeps spitting out pieces of skin/meat and bleeding. I guess that is about all for now, but if anything else exciting happens, I'll let you know!
