July 26, 2001 White count of ***2.3*** today! Whoooo-freaking-hooooo! <happy dancing across the room again!> I actually haven't seen her much today, because I took off for Waco this morning and just got back, 10 hours later. Bill paying is *so* much fun... not. She said that she made 4 laps of the bone marrow unit during her physical therapy and didn't throw up til later, so that is kind of nice. She has taken her shower and done her mouth care without me here, so maybe I shouldn't feel too guilty. Oh, and when I got back there was the nicest present -- a certain bald sweetheart had sent a certain book and some cards. MaWAH, David. You are a wonderful man... <G> And she got the *coolest* coloring book, but we have *no* idea who it is from -- Ocala FL is the postmark. Anyone want to 'fess up? (Yeah, I should probably know who it is, but no clue.) I *did* go to the website and it is fascinating! I do need to explain something regarding yesterdays update. Shay isn't diabetic, or at least she wasn't before we started all of this. But the TPN that they have her on is about 20% glucose, and that seems to be throwing her levels off a lot. When the did the fingerstick last night to double check the blood draw results, her sugar was 316 -- normal is under 140! Heck, hers was higher than mine! So they are adding insulin to her TPN to bring it down. They don't think she'll continue having problems after all of this is over, but they aren't guaranteeing anything. So, she may come home on oral meds or insulin, depending on how much damage this has done to her pancreas. Sigh... And, that is about all for today. I'm posting all of her CBC levels and then getting something to eat! Missy Home Page |
