Back again... Shay is feeling pretty good -- although she's getting low on her counts. Her platelets are at 24 and they transfuse when she get to or below 20. And her hemoglobin is down to 8.1 -- they give her red blood cells when she gets below 8.0. Looks like tomorrow will be transfusion day. Pretty good actually, since she hasn't had blood since the 19th.
Right now she's lying in bed listening to Garth and putting off taking her shower! She has physical therapy later today and wants to wait until Paula is ready for her, *then* jump into the tub. Monster... <G> (Oops, she saw this and just got her stuff together...)
The Child Life Specialist for the floor came in today to tell Shay to start thinking about her breakout party. This is a thing they do for all the kids who get sent home from the unit. They let the kids choose what food they want to have, and what kind of presents they want. It is really cool -- they put crepe paper all over their door so they really have to *breakout* and all the docs and nurses come. I can't wait -- gotta get pictures!
