Another clinic visit behind us - but this one wasn't quite as good as the others.  It seems that Shay's kindeys aren't holding up as well as they should.  She's drinking a lot, but the numbers are still rising...  So, they have cut one of her medications in half until further notice and are adding another one to help neutralize the stuff her kidneys aren't cleaning from her blood.  We knew before we came up here that her kidneys have always been 'iffy' but they've held up so far.  Now, if they get bad enough, they'll put her into the hospital and do dialysis for a few days to give them a break.  Not something any of us are looking forward to, but we'll deal with it if we have to.

The girls are doing well in their hospital school and seem to be having a good time.  I was at the hospital today, working with the Department of Social Services caseworker, trying to get Medicaid started for when my insurance is cancelled -- hmmm, just 7 days from now.  That is when my Family Medical Leave runs out...  I can either go back to work full time then, or take a 'voluntary termination' (although there isn't a darned thing voluntary about it! <G>).  This is the state's guidelines, and work has been *so* good to help me out all they can.  They've said that when we get back home, they'll hire me back - that is the one bright spot in the whole mess.  Nice to know I haven't wasted the past 6 years <G>.

I am so bummed right now.  I had met a woman who's daughter was in with complications from a kidney transplant a few years ago, and we got to be pretty good friends.  We'd cry on one anothers shoulders and laugh about our lives and our kids.  Well, they got released today and *should* be most of the way back to Amarillo by now (cross fingers).  Evelyn and Amanda?  It was nice meeting you and we *will* stay in touch! :~)

I guess that is about all for today.  I'm going to go make supper here in a bit - the kids asked if  they could have hamburger helper, of all things.  Aaah, it's quick and easy -- sure, I guess.  I'll have a salad <G>
