Ugh... Poor Shay - she's had one heck of a time, since she got out of the hospital. When the home health nurse came last night (they have to make sure I remember how to work the pump, etc) she had to pull the peripheral IV Shay had in her arm and start another in the other arm. The vancomycin burns her veins *so* badly, that we can only run one dose before they are unusable. I ran her hydration last night, and her vanc this afternoon, and that was all she wrote. Called home health and they sent another nurse out, to hopefully start another IV, but no luck. There aren't any veins left - no place to stick her. Sandy called the doctor and the doc said that if Shay would drink really well tonight, she wouldn't have to go to the ER and have another line stuck. So, she is - although she's grumping <G>. We just have to go in early for our app't tomorrow, so that they can figure out what to do. They *might* have to put in another broviac, just for now. Hope not...
Cassie is coming down with a stomach bug - she's been throwing up *all* day. One of the other kids here just got readmitted to the unit, because he has a virus - he passed it to Cassie and I'm trying really hard to make sure she doesn't give it to Shay. Cross fingers...
