We girls haff been busy baking Christmas cookies. We gots plenny already an we's not done yet, so help yerselfs! Here's one of our recipes fur mew: Gingerbread Mans (dis is a 60 year old recipe Phelicity got from her mom) Ingredients 1/4 cup of soft butter 1/2 cup of brown sugar 3/4 cup of molasses (be furry careful not to get any molasses in yer fur!!) 1/4 cup water 3 cups of flour (if mew can get it all mixed in) 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon each of ginger, cloves, and cinnamon just a pinch of salt In a great big bowl, stir up da butter, sugar, molasses, and water real good. Den stir in da flour a cup at a time. Add da soda, spices, and salt wiff da first cup, cuz mew can't be sure all dat flour will go in dere. Use da last cup a liddle at a time. When da dough is furry stiff an mew can hardly move it wiff a strong spoon, stop wiff da flour. Chill da dough in da fridge. When it's cold, roll out da dough 1/4 inch thick on a buttered table top mew hasn't sat on lately. Butter is best, cuz flour sticks on da bottoms too much. But use a liddle flour on yer rolling pin. If mew doesn't got a rolling pin, an empty champagne bottle works, too. Cut dem out wiff a gingerbread man cookie cutter (dip it in flour furst), an lay each one carefully on a cookie sheet lined wiff parchment paper. Dat's so dey won't stick to it. Dese are furry sticky cookies until dey's baked! Mew can make liddle eyes an moufs an buttons on dem wiff cut up candied cherries or tiny red cinnamon candies. (Humans use raisons sometimes, but kitties doesn't like raisons.) Or mew can decorate dem wif squirts of icing after dey's baked, an efen put liddle icing jackets on dem. Bake da cookies at 350 degrees fur about 10 minutes.
