The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child is a document that protects children around the world by giving them rights.

Children have the right to:
§ Freedom from violence, abuse, hazardous employment, exploitation, abduction or sale
§ Freedom from hunger and protection from diseases
§ Free compulsory primary education
§ Adequate health care
§ Equal Treatment regardless of gender, race or cultural background
§ Express opinions and freedom of thought in matters affecting them
§ Safe exposure/access to leisure, play culture and art

Child labour violates all of children's rights. Children who work are usually forced to work in a place where they are often subjected to violence, abuse, bad working conditions and diseases. Their opinions hardly ever matter and they are deprived from an education, adequate health care and access to leisure and play.
