The 2nd Assisi Prayer Meeting, January 2002 John Paul II invited all the major religions of the world, the Moslems in particular, to a second prayer meeting in Assisi in January 2002. In the same spirit as the first meeting, once again John Paul requested prayers for peace. The members of the various religions were permitted the use of their own rooms for prayers to their own gods.
The superior general of the Society of Saint Pius X issued a statement at the time that represents the general view of traditionalists on the Assisi meeting. The statement is available here. |
