I Remember
By Cathy Roberts

I wish I could talk to you
to understand your actions
towards me.
I thought we were okay
caring for each other
despite ourselves.
I was wrong.

The memories wash over me
the kisses, the words,
the touches we gave to each other.
Could yours have been all lies?

I remember a flower and the gentle way
you would place your hand on my leg at the movies.
The last time we kissed is forever in my mind.
God, how could you have done this to me?

I acted the fool for you.
Love drives a person to many things.
Dammitt!  Talk to me!  Look at me!
Tell me why you deserted me!
Say something, anything
but do not say nothing!
