REFLECTIONS
By Cathy Roberts

Reflections in a fire show me a love rejected.
I reached through the flames to take your hand.
Instead of pulling me through, you held me there,
and the flames burned me while you escaped from harm.

Reflections of a fire make me feel cold.
For I am once again alone and lonely.
You are always on my mind
The scars still visible on my soul.

Yet you still hold me in the flames,
Burning me deeper still.
You escape without harm.
