YOUR FLAME

By Cathy Roberts

You are like a blazing fire burning bright.
Your flames drive away all who would come near.
But all those who are cold
Come close to you for warmth.
We huddle as close as we can to you
Our faces flush from the heat of your light.
Some look at you and see only the destruction a flame can bring.
I look and am transfixed by the whispering song of your flame.
The beauty and the warmth are what keeps me near to you.
