Summary: A gift, courtesy of Q. The arrival of this gift leads to truths and secrets finally being revealed for certain members of the senior staff.
Author's Note: This is my first attempt at writing a story that includes acts of consensual sex. Blame the title to me listening to S Club 7 over and over and over! I think this is the longest story I have ever written! Enjoy!
Annie lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling. It was dark outside and she was talking to her Grandmother over the comm channel.
"It's hard to believe to believe you're 21 tomorrow" Gretchen Janeway said, smiling " I remember the day you were born. You were so small and you reminded me so much of your mother when I had her"
"That must be a nice memory for you Gran" Annie continued to stare at the ceiling.
"Yes yes it was Annie. It's something I will cherish always" Gretchen paused "Is everything all right dear? You're very quiet" the concern was evident in Gretchen's voice, so much so that Annie turned to face her Grandmother.
"I'm fine Gran, I'm just tired. I've not been sleeping too well lately"
"Well make sure you get plenty of sleep tonight and I'll speak to you in the morning" Gretchen smiled.
"I will, goodnight and I'll speak to you tomorrow" Annie blew her a kiss
Gretchen returned the gesture with a smile and closed the channel. Annie switched off her terminal and rolled over to face the photos that adorned her bedside table.
There were several images of the four Janeway women, one of her Aunt and Mother and another of herself and her Mother. A new image of her and Brian had been added.
Annie closed her eyes, trying to keep the image there and prevent the tears from falling.
Annie once again cried herself to sleep, resting her hand on the child that grew within her.
He had been watching her and made sure that she was asleep before he entered her room. He quietly moved around the room, selecting items she may want and need.
'When did I become so sentimental?' he wondered. Once he decided, he clicked his fingers and they all appeared in a large holdall on the floor by the bed.
Q watched Annie for several seconds, before leaning over and whispering "Happy Birthday" in her ear. Q then clicked his fingers and he, Annie and the holdall disappeared.
Kathryn and Chakotay were sitting on the couch in her ready room, going over several personnel reports. The flash in the corner of the room caught their eye and they both looked up.
"Q!" they said in unison.
"Kathy, Chuckles, it's been so long! Have you missed me?"
"NO" in unison once again.
"Oh how you hurt me" Q brought up his hands up to his heart, as if he were in pain.
"What do you want Q?" Kathryn asked impatiently.
"Me? I don't want anything Kathy. How could you think such a thing?"
Kathryn looked over at Chakotay, then back at Q.
"It's quite easy"
Q clicked his fingers, disappeared, and then reappeared sitting in between them on the couch.
They both turned to face him. Chakotay spoke first.
"Then if you don't want something, why are you here Q?"
"I've brought a gift for Kathy. Sorry Chuckles nothing for you this time"
Kathryn grasped her head with her hands and groaned.
"Oh Q, I don't want a gift from you"
"But Kathy, you'll like this one. I've even wrapped it for you. Anyway, it's in your quarters waiting for you"
"Q!"
"Now Kathy, be grateful, you'll like this, believe me" and with that Q clicked his fingers and disappeared.
Kathryn looked at Chakotay and took a deep breath.
"Care to join me in my gift hunt?"
Chakotay smiled and nodded
I wonder what it is. Maybe it's another puppy or his child and he wants you to baby-sit"
Kathryn smiled back at him.
"Whatever it is, he can have it back. I don't want him coming to me later saying that I owe him"
They both stood and made their way to the door and out onto the bridge.
Kathryn and Chakotay entered her quarters and scanned the room.
"Well I don't see anything, do you?" Chakotay asked.
"Nope, and Q did say that he wrapped it"
Kathryn sat down on her couch, but continued to gaze around the room, looking for this mysterious gift.
"Mind if I use your bathroom?"
"Sure, be my guest"
Chakotay walked into the bedroom and towards the bathroom. He came out several seconds later.
"That was quick" Kathryn grinned
"I haven't been" Kathryn raised her eyebrows "I think I've found your gift"
"You have? Where?"
"In the bed, in the bedroom"
"You mean on the bed, in the bedroom" Kathryn stood up and walked over to him.
"No no, I was right the first time"
Kathryn narrowed her eyes and walked past him into her bedroom. She stopped when she saw movement in the bed.
"Tell me that isn't a body in my bed" Kathryn whispered
"I'm afraid I can't" Chakotay whispered back
"Who is it?" she asked looking at Chakotay out the corner of her eye.
"I was hoping you could tell me"
Kathryn moved forward, it was too dark to see this person from her current standpoint.
The person looked to be female, her hair was long and auburn, similar to her own.
The body was facing the other way. Kathryn was about to move round the bed when the young woman turned over.
"Oh my god Annie" Kathryn's eyes went wide.
Kathryn turned to face Chakotay
"It's Annie"
Kathryn and Chakotay sat on the floor watching the sleeping form in the bed.
"Who is Annie, Kathryn?"
"Kathryn Anne Janeway is my my niece, Phoebe's daughter. Family and close friends call her Annie, anyone else calls her Anne. She's only ever allowed one person to call her Kathryn"
"Oh, who?"
"Would you believe, Tuvok" Kathryn gave a quiet laugh at Chakotay's surprise.
"Tuvok?"
"Yeah, don't ask me why. He's the only one she's ever allowed to call her Kathryn"
Chakotay watched as Kathryn looked at her niece. After several minutes in silence, he spoke.
"I found a holdall with clothes and personal items. I'm assuming its Annie's"
"Q packed for her? " Kathryn looked back at Chakotay
"Looks that way"
"He must be getting sentimental in his old age" Kathryn turned back to Annie "She was fourteen when we were pulled out here. I can only imagine what she was feeling. The first few months out here, I would cry myself to sleep thinking of everyone I had at home, waiting for me. But Annie was the one person who I was concerned about"
"I remember"
"You remember?"
"Yeah, I could hear you crying, there were several times when I was going to come and see if you were okay, but you would stop and I assumed you were asleep" Chakotay gave a small smile.
"I didn't know you could here me"
"I hear a lot of things"
"Oh you do. I'll have to bare that in mind in future" Kathryn waggled her eyebrows and Chakotay laughed at her.
"Were you two close?"
"Oh yeah, I tried not to be, considering my career, but "
"But you couldn't help it" he finished for her.
They sat in a comfortable silence until Chakotay spoke.
"Can I get you something?"
Kathryn turned to face him and smiled.
"No I'm fine, thank you"
"Well, I'll leave you here for a while and go read some reports, ok?"
"Ok. Chakotay"
"Yes?" he stood up.
"Thank you"
"For what?" he looked down at Kathryn, somewhat confused.
"For being you"
Annie continued to sleep soundly in Kathryn's bed.
Kathryn had been watching her for a while but soon moved off into her living area, where she found Chakotay reading one of the many reports that were scattered over her table.
Chakotay looked up as he heard her enter the room.
"Is she still sleeping?"
Kathryn came and sat beside him on her couch.
"Yeah, she was always a good sleeper, even when she was a baby" Kathryn smiled at the memory.
Kathryn was soon brought out of her reverie by the chirp of her commbadge.
"Torres to Janeway"
"Janeway here. What can I do for you B'Elanna?"
"I was just wondering how much longer you were going to be Captain?"
"Oh, why?" Kathryn looked over to Chakotay and gave him a questioning look.
"You wanted to go over that engineering report with myself and Seven"
"B'Elanna, I completely forgot. I'm on my way, Janeway out. Damn"
"What's the matter?"
"I'll have to go to this, but I can't leave Annie. What of she should wake up?"
"I'll be here" he smiled
Kathryn smiled back at him.
"Are you sure? 'Cause I could easily postpone this"
"I'm sure. If she wakes up while you're gone, I'll call for you immediately"
Kathryn brought her hand up to Chakotay's face.
"Thank you, this means a lot, more than you could ever know"
Kathryn's eyes seemed to glisten, but she blinked and it disappeared.
Chakotay gave her a questioning look, but Kathryn smiled at him and stood up.
"I'll try to be as quick as I can, ok?"
"Ok, but you don't have to rush, we'll be fine"
Kathryn gave him one final look before heading out of her door and towards engineering.
Chakotay looked after her and stared at the closed doors for several minutes before going back to his report.
Chakotay had been reading for some twenty minutes, when he heard something from the bedroom.
'Annie must be awake' he thought.
Chakotay put down his PADD, stood up and prepared himself for a confrontation with a scared young woman. He moved slowly to the bedroom door, expecting to see Annie up and about. She was still sleeping but she had kicked off the cover and it was now on the floor.
Chakotay was about to go back to the living area, when he heard Annie speak.
"Brian"
"Annie? Are you awake?"
"I want you Brian"
Chakotay made his way over to her side.
'She's talking in her sleep' he stood beside the bed smiling.
Annie's hands began to wander and caress her body. Her right hand went straight between her legs, as her left hand began to caress her breasts.
Chakotay could feel his face go red with embarrassment. He knew he should leave, his mind was telling him to leave but his feet were disobeying his orders. Instead he remained still watching Kathryn's niece make love to herself in her sleep.
Chakotay's vision began to blur. He could no longer see Annie it was now Kathryn.
He watched as Kathryn moved her left hand from her breast, down to stroke the swell of her belly, where his child was growing within her. He watched as her legs spread wider, allowing her fingers greater access to the area he had so often dreamt about.
Chakotay felt himself grow hard as he watched his Kathryn reach her climax, open her mouth and call his name.
"Oh Brian" that brought him out of his dream.
Chakotay looked down at Annie's face, not Kathryn's. Annie then placed a hand on her stomach and returned to her normal sleep.
Chakotay stood a while longer before attempting to move. He then picked up the cover and placed over Annie's small form. Annie's likeness to Kathryn was amazing. Same hair, same small form, they looked so alike. Chakotay looked at Annie once again, a small thought niggling at his brain, he tried to push it to the side.
'No she couldn't be '
That would answer a few questions that had cropped up since Annie's arrival, but it also led to a few more that were left unanswered.
Chakotay placed the cover back over Annie and carefully made his way back to the other room.
His erection wasn't as hard as it had been, but it was still there and extremely noticeable. Images of Kathryn making love to herself plagued his mind, making his erection all the more uncomfortable.
Chakotay was about to relieve himself, when the doors opened and allowed Kathryn to pass through. He could feel the colour drain from his cheeks. He scanned the couch and found what he was looking for and placed it gingerly on his lap, hoping that Kathryn hadn't noticed.
She had.
"Hi, sorry I took so long. Chakotay are you okay?"
"Fine" his voice sounded strained.
Kathryn nodded
"Ok. Is Annie ok?"
"She's fine" he definitely sounded strained.
"You sure you're ok " Kathryn sat down next to Chakotay and turned to face him "You look like you have a problem with your erection" she smiled.
'What? What did she say?' his eyes went wide
"What?" he was shocked and embarrassed.
"I said you look like you have a problem with your mid-section. What did you think I said?" she gave a small laugh.
Chakotay seemed to relax a little "Nothing"
Kathryn knew something was up, but she nodded and noted it for later.
"Have you checked on Annie?" she asked looking off towards the bedroom.
Memories came flooding back to him, he tried to compose himself before answering.
"Yes she was calling for someone called Brian"
"Brian? I don't know any Brian, but then again I'm not likely to, am I?"
Chakotay gave a sad smile " I also think she's pregnant"
Kathryn's face turned to look at him.
"Why do you think that?" Kathryn asked feeling so distant from the young woman that was lying in her bed. 'You are distant Kathryn, in more ways than one'
"She'd kicked the covers off when I'd gone in. I noticed then. She looks to be about 5/6 months. We should let the Doctor see her when she wakes up"
Kathryn nodded and gave a small smile.
"That would possibly explain who Brian is"
Kathryn sat back and let her head rest. She closed her eyes and sighed.
"You're taking this very hard, Kathryn"
Kathryn opened her eyes and lifted her head and stared at the bedroom door.
"I know I am " she responded quietly. She turned to face him "I know"
They stared at one another for several moments. Kathryn glanced down at the cushion.
"What are you doing with that cushion?" she asked in a light tone.
"What cushion?" Chakotay could no longer look at her.
"Chakotay! The cushion you have on your lap!"
His erection was still quite prominent and Kathryn's proximity wasn't helping any.
"Oh that cushion Nothing"
"You're hiding something from me" she smirked.
'Too right I am' he thought to himself.
"No I am not" he turned to her to defend himself.
"Yes yes you are. What are you hiding underneath that cushion that you don't want me to see?"
Kathryn watched Chakotay as he carefully pushed the cushion into his lap, only to release it with a wince.
Kathryn became alarmed.
"Are you hurt?"
"Spirits no Kathryn" that didn't ease her concern.
"Chakotay I want you to tell me what you are doing. You're acting like an adolescent male with his first erection " Kathryn's eyes went wide 'Why did I say that?' then it dawned on her. She slapped her hand over her mouth to stop from laughing out loud.
Chakotay didn't budge, but Kathryn could see him close his eyes. Kathryn took a deep breath and tried to compose herself.
"That's it, isn't it? You have uhm an erection" Kathryn could feel the laughter bubbling within her, along with another strange feeling, that hadn't been felt for years.
Chakotay nodded ever so slightly, Kathryn wasn't even sure she had him nod.
"It's nothing to be embarrassed about Chakotay, it happens to all men" she was beginning to feel his embarrassment.
"Yes Kathryn, it happens to all men, but they are usually in one of several situations and I am presently in none of them" he bit back 'it doesn't help that you are sitting very close by either' he thought to himself.
"I'm sorry Chakotay " she smiled "I know you're embarrassed. How did you get it? I'm sorry I'm prying" Now Kathryn was embarrassed and looked away. The bedroom door came into view.
Kathryn turned back to Chakotay.
"Was it Annie?"
"NO! God no Kathryn" he looked hurt.
"Is it me?" she gave a small smile.
Chakotay remained silent and still. He could feel Kathryn's eyes on him 'Let the floor open up and swallow me whole now please!'
Kathryn sighed. She watched as Chakotay turned towards her.
"Kathryn I am so sorry, now I've embarrassed you"
Kathryn could see the emotions play across his face. She watched as his eyes bore within her, as how brow creased and how the tips of his ears grew pink.
"No no I don't believe I am. Flattered yes, embarrassed no" Kathryn smiled at him and placed her hand on his shoulder.
Chakotay stared at her, disbelieving.
"Flattered? How can you be flattered by this?" and he removed the cushion. There standing proud was Chakotay's erect penis and it was very much straining to get out of his trousers.
Kathryn looked at where the cushion had been. 'My he's big!' she thought to herself. She began to unconsciously lick her lips. Kathryn was drawn back to reality when she heard Chakotay sigh.
"I feel flattered because my best friend and the man I think about constantly has made me feel wanted and attractive and I've not felt that way in a long time Chakotay"
With this Chakotay faced Kathryn and saw sad, yet passionate blue orbs peering back at him.
"You are very attractive Kathryn and deeply wanted and desired" he paused and thought over what she had said "You think about me constantly?"
Kathryn gave a shy smile, nodded and looked away.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that Kathryn"
"No no Chakotay don't ever be sorry. I'm sorry enough for the both of us" she faced him once again.
They stared at one another for what seemed like an eternity. Kathryn could feel her desire for him, building in the pit of her stomach. She began to move closer to him, just so she could brush her lips against his, when
"Hello is someone there?" a voice came filtering from the bedroom.
They quickly pulled apart and Kathryn moved to the bedroom door.
"Annie?" Annie was sitting up on the bed with the cover securely fixed around her body.
Annie's eyes went wide, she could feel the tears beginning to burn down her cheeks.
"Aunt Kathryn?" Annie's voice trembled with shock and emotion.
Kathryn and Annie hugged and cried for an hour, they barely spoke in fear that the other wasn't real.
Questions were racing through Annie's mind, the first was to how the hell she was here. Annie pulled back and looked at Kathryn. Kathryn spoke first.
"Welcome aboard Voyager and I do believe a happy birthday is in order" Kathryn smiled at Annie's face
"You remembered"
"I've never forgotten, I remember the day you were born. I was recall it was painful, yet blessed day" Kathryn once again smiled at the memory "You were beautiful then and your just as beautiful now"
Annie gave a shy smile and looked at Kathryn "Must be in the genes"
"Thank you" Kathryn gave a small laugh.
Annie looked from Kathryn to round the room she was in "So this is the magnificent vessel you spoke so highly of all those years ago?"
"Yes well part of it" she laughed.
Annie continued to look around the room, her gaze stopped at the door. Kathryn looked over her shoulder to see what had caught Annie's attention.
"Chakotay!"
"Hi!"
"Chakotay, this is my niece, Annie"
"Hello Anne" he remembered to call her Anne. Chakotay moved closer to the bed
"Annie, this is my best friend and first officer, Chakotay"
"Hello Chakotay! It's very nice to meet you. Please call me Annie"
They smiled and shook hands.
Kathryn gave Chakotay a knowing look and smiled at him.
"Well I'm sorry to interrupt ladies, but I've been called to the bridge"
"It's been lovely to meet you Chakotay, I'm sure I'll see you again soon" Annie smiled and gave a small wave.
"It's been a pleasure meeting you Annie" he smiled
"Oh believe me the pleasure is all mine" Annie winked and grinned.
He nodded and turned his attention to Kathryn "I'll see you later Kathryn"
"Yes you will"
Annie watched Kathryn and Chakotay left, she then leaned in and whispered to her "He is gorgeous"
"Yeah I know. WHAT?" Kathryn's head shot round to face Annie.
Annie smirked "I said "
"I know what you said Annie" Kathryn was shocked
"Are you more embarrassed by what I said or the fact that you agreed with me?" Annie's face went serious "He has an incredible ass!" Annie shivered, then laughed. Kathryn joined her.
"I can not believe I am hearing this" Kathryn continued to laugh.
"Have you slept with him?"
"Annie!"
"Ok, ok, enough questions" Annie smirked "He likes you, that much is obvious"
"I'm a very likeable person. I like him to" there was a lightness about her tone. Kathryn came and sat on the bed beside Annie.
Annie shuffled over to allow Kathryn some space and looked at her Aunt.
"No, I mean he 'likes' you" Annie's eyes went wide for emphasis.
Kathryn's face went sad "I know what you meant Annie"
Annie's eyebrows went up and decided to leave the subject alone for the moment anyway.
"I hear congratulations are in order"
"They are? I thought I had received them already?" Annie was confused
"I hear you're pregnant"
"How'd you know?" Annie's face was no longer the chirpy, happy face Kathryn had just seen.
"I have my ways of knowing these things" Kathryn adopted an accent, trying to lighten the mood. It didn't work to the degree that Kathryn had hoped.
Annie gave a small smile "Yes, I'm pregnant, about six months now"
"You must be very happy" Kathryn could see a variety of emotions in Annie's eyes, some more prominent than others.
"I am"
"You don't sound too sure, you want to talk about it?"
"Yes I do but not right now, okay?"
Kathryn gave a soft smile and nodded.
"Okay but I'm here whenever you want me"
Annie smiled at this "I know and I want to revel in that a while longer"
