Neighbours - Consequences

Summary: Someone wins the bet and now two people must face the consequences!
Author's Note: I had no idea where this was going and that is why this one had eluded me fore several weeks. It's got to the point where my mother wants to know what is going to happen!
The pool game continued for another twenty minutes before it became obvious who was going to win.
Tom walked round the table, occasionally looking at his three friends, watching him.
B'Elanna looked somewhat worried. Chakotay was smile - it was fake. And Kathryn stood there calmly, with her arms crossed in front of her.
Tom finally stopped, eyed the white ball, lined it up with the black ball and placed his cue on pool table ready for his shot. The room was amazingly quiet.
Tom took his shot. From then on everything looked to be in slow motion. All four of them watched as the black ball was hit by the white and made its way to the corner pocket. It rolled along.
Tom began smiling and looked at his friends. He watched them as they watched the ball.
He watched as B'Elanna's face fell and the Captain and Chakotay's faces lit up.
'No, I couldn't have…' Tom tore his gaze from them and watched as the ball bounced off the corner of the pocket.
Kathryn let out a breath, one she didn't realise she was holding.
"Close Tom, very close" Kathryn turned to face Chakotay as he spoke to Tom.
Tom walked towards the Captain and reluctantly held out the cue.
"Your turn Captain"
Kathryn took the cue "Thank you Tom"
Tom walked over to by B'Elanna, as the Captain made her way to the table.
Kathryn eyed the balls and bent over to take her shot.
"I thought the whole purpose of this was so you could win" B'Elanna hissed.
"She's not going to win, B'Elanna" he whispered, she eyed him dubiously.
Tom, B'Elanna and Chakotay watched as Kathryn took her shot and potted the black.
"Oh really!" B'Elanna turned to Tom.
Chakotay walked over to congratulate Kathryn. They then walked back over to Tom and B'Elanna.
"Well tried Tom, maybe next time" said Kathryn as they all shook hands.
"I'll hold you to that" replied Tom
"You must have thought you were going to win Tom" said Chakotay
"Why do you say that?" asked B'Elanna
"Otherwise he wouldn't have set the bet" he responded.
Tom looked sheepishly as B'Elanna
"I just thought it would be fun, that's all"
"What were you going to get us to do, anyway?" Kathryn asked curiously.
"Nothing" Tom and B'Elanna replied in unison.
Kathryn and Chakotay both rose an eyebrow at one another.
"Come on Tom, what were you going to have us do?" asked Kathryn.
"Yeah Tom, you must have had something interesting planned, to make the bet in the first place" smiled Chakotay.
"It was nothing really. Just some harmless fun" said Tom trying to sound confident.
"Tom…" Kathryn gave a smile that said 'tell all or lose all'
"I…I was going to ask you a question" Tom wouldn't look at them.
"A question?" Chakotay asked
"Yeah a question, no biggy" Tom found his feet interesting.
Kathryn had a feeling she knew what the question was, the look on Tom and B'Elanna's faces said it all. Kathryn was finding it difficult to not laugh.
"So what was this question Tom?" she asked.
Tom's eyes went wide.
"Well…you won the bet, so…it doesn't matter. What do we have to do?"
"Oh you don't get out of it that easily. I…and I'm sure Chakotay would like to know why you devised this little bet in the first place and then we'll, let you know what we want you to do"
Tom and B'Elanna looked as each other. Chakotay stood there smiling, nodding in agreement with Kathryn.
Kathryn crossed her arms in front of her, showing Tom that she was waiting.
"I…I wanted to know if…" Tom paused
"Yes?" Kathryn and Chakotay asked in amusement
"I wanted to know if you two had sex"
Chakotay was stunned, never had he thought they would come right out and ask "What?"
"He wanted to know if you two had sex with one another" replied B'Elanna
Kathryn and Chakotay looked at one another and smiled. Kathryn asked Chakotay a question, using only her eyes. Chakotay nodded.
Kathryn turned to face Tom and B'Elanna
"Well really it's none of your business, but…"
Tom and B'Elanna waited patiently
"No…not yet anyway!" with that Kathryn turned round and made her way out of the holodeck.
Three pairs of shocked eyes stared after her.
"Chakotay walked out after her.
"What about the bet?" called Tom
He got no reply.
