Germaine is considering offers to join either the Federation of Daibei or the Principality of Caledon. If it joins Caledon, it is expected that a technological boost will bring the Principality up to Tech Level 13 well within a decade. If Germaine joins the Federation of Daibei, it is expected to become the first prong of a Federation encroachment into the Scotian Deep subsector, eventually enveloping the Principality of Caledon and the Grand Duchy of Douglass to spinward.

The Skye system was recently swept clean of a band of pirates by a joint Caledonian Space Navy and Federation Naval Reserve operation. The pirates were based in several asteroids. Rumour has it that most of their gear and their ships were supplied by the Solomani Confederation. As a result, pirate attacks on Imperial shipping have dropped by 80%. There are scattered reports of Solomani 'holdouts' throughout the area, but these are unsubstantiated.

The Ikuna Belt is solely owned by Sternmetal Horizons LIC. Access to the system is expressly forbidden, and information about it is extremely limited.
