GOTCHA! The Art of Paintball Wars
by: Flip Carreon

Are you sick and tired of the same old hangouts and gimmicks? Want to feel the thrill of battle without inflicting serious harm on others? Well, paintball adventure gaming is the perfect activity for you!

Paintball wargames are becoming very popular among the youth of today. They are considered to be similar to the computer game Counterstrike, but it’s live. You are the one getting hit, not the image you see on the monitor. Even the usual wargames using pellet guns can’t compare to paintball wargames, since you are wearing vests and helmets so you can’t get hurt by getting hit with paintballs.

Assuming you brought your troop along, you are divided into two groups with equal number. The participants are clothed with different colors that correspond to their team. The teams are allowed to fight each other out round by round. You win a round when all your enemies are dead---"dead" meaning all of them are already hit. There is a referee usually in yellow uniform that looks over the wargames, so don’t bother to cheat.

This thrill-seeking activity is very new and can’t be found just anywhere. The perfect place that you can start is with one of the biggest gaming corporations, GOTCHA!

Gotcha! Paintball Adventure Gaming can be found in Festival Mall in Alabang. Their business of warfare started October of last year, and since then its popularity quickly increased. There are a lot of other branches or other stores that offer paintball gaming but are harder to find.

The shop is open everyday, Mondays through Thursdays from ten to nine, and on Fridays to Sundays from ten to twelve. Fridays are always full so expect a large crowd. Mondays to Thursdays are usually free so i suggest you experience the fun on those days.

When participating on paintball events, you have to have the right equipment. There’s no need to worry about rental fees because you only pay for the paintballs you are using. You are supplied with a helmet and a gun with the number of paintballs you paid for. You are also given a vest which color corresponds to the team your in. It can be hard to move when you are wearing the vest but it is better than not wearing them and getting hit by paintballs. When everything is in order you are given instructions on how to use your equipment and your ready to kick some behind!

Before you can play paintball wargames, you have to pass through some procedures in order to secure your safety. First, you have to sign a waiver form, then after that, the receipt for the paintballs you ordered. Each paintball is four pesos each, and you have to order a minimum of fifty paintballs to join. All of the other equipment is free, so this can be considered to be a lot less cheaper than go-kart racing or other alternative gimmick.

Some rules you can encounter in the game: no profanity. Sometimes, it really seems logical to follow because sometimes those things lead to heated arguments and fights. There is also the "one-shot-dead" policy, which means when you get shot once, you're dead and you have to wait for the round to finish to play again. If you have problems remembering all the rules that are shown to you, don’t worry because the walls are full of them.

You can enjoy this activity better when you can muster about ten or so people because from experience, it can be boring playing one on one, even with other sports in mind. Don’t worry if you brought your whole class along, since there are tons of helmets, vests, and guns waiting to be used.

This a hell of a great way to have fun and keep in shape at the same time. I recommend this activity to those who are searching for more. This is for those who really want to have fun! I know I would!
