Gogyo- Five elemental transformations
The Gogyo is are often called 5 Elements, but
the system is more cyclic then stable.
Gogyo is used in many chinese arts, such as Feng Shui,
Astrology, I Ging etc.
In Japan it became part of Shinto and is widely used
in Astrology, calendars, ritual. It is also essential
to Onyodo, an esoteric tradition based on chinese magic.
The Gogyo are:
- Water -Sui -North -Black
- Wood -Moku -East -Blue
- Fire -Ka -South -Red
- Earth -Do -Center -Yellow
- Metal -Kin -West -White
Those are not manifestations as the Godai, but states
in between. There are two cycles in the system:
- productive progressive Cycle
- blocking damming Cycle
The blocking cycle is also called Control Cycle, because it can
stop or slow down the progression of energy to its next phase,
causing it either to to retutn to the previous stage or skip
the following.
The Productive Cycle
- Water.....Formation
- Wood......Creation
- Fire......Gestation
- Earth.....Consolidation
- Metal.....Maturation
- Water.....Dissolution
The Control Cycle
- Wood -controls -Earth
- Earth -controls -Water
- Water -controls -Fire
- Fire -controls -Metal
- Metal -controls -Wood
