I was joined in the second half of the programme by conductor Johnny Poon, who thoughtfully provided a CD of carefully selected performances featuring a variety of influential and important conductors. Unfortunately, the radio station’s equipment rather ungraciously failed to play the CD which had worked perfectly on both Dr. Poon’s and my own equipment, leaving us to improvise at the last minute with performances we might not have otherwise chosen. But, the show must go on, especially if it’s live, right?)
