Secondary 'Stakeholders' on-side for safety audit

Police, Fire and Ambulance; OC Transit, the City of Ottawa and the Nepean Community Resource Centre are all supporting the Bells Corners safety audit. At a meeting held at the home of William DeSouza, the Safe Community Initiative organizer, representatives from Councilor Jan Harder's office, the City of Ottawa, OC Transit; as well as the Police and Fire departments were given a brief outline of the safety audit planned for the Moodie Drive, Robertson Road and Richmond Road areas.

These 'Secondary Stakeholders', were able to provide a great deal of input into what the committee should look out for in the audit process. William DeSouza said that "Primary Stakeholders, the residents of the area, have considerable resources from this group and also provides the audit committee with tools to use during the walk-about".

While not all the secondary stakeholders were able to attend the initial meeting, Mr. DeSouza has been in contact with those absent and follow-up meetings are being planed. Mr. DeSouza added that "All have expressed a desire to assist the group and the community with the process and provide home owners and renters with the resources to make their homes and the community a safer, more secure place to live, play and work".

The safety audit group looks forward to working with not only the secondary stakeholders, but the various businesses in the audit area. A working relationship that will no doubt benefit all concerned.
