The king of part-time jobs! Touya is Sakura's 17-year-old oniichan (older brother). He always calls Sakura "kaijuu" (monster), and sometimes, even uses her head as a drink holder. So, Sakura, in turn, kicks (or stomps) his foot HARD. She claims that she's going to grow as tall as a telephone poll and squish the poor guy like a bug, but of course, she doesn't...not unless she uses the Big Card, that is.
Touya currently goes to Seijou High, which is just beside Tomoeda Elementary School, which Sakura attends. That way, he can just jump over a fence and he'll be there when she needs him. He goes to school with Yukito, his best friend. He's athletic (he's good at soccer), intelligent (he gets high grades, especially Chemistry), clever and STRONG (he knows Karate). He also plays the piano well (if I'm not mistaken, also the violin). Add the fact that he's a bishie with glaring brown eyes, and he doesn't seem to be interested in anyone, it makes him more attractive. He's VERY popular with the girls at his school. Akizuki Nakuru, a new transfer student at the 3rd season of the series, is no exception. Nakuru GLOMPS on him everytime she sees him (which is all the time since she follows him around), and she seems to turn up at the most INCONVENIENT times.
Touya-kun is a very responsible son. Since his dad, Fujitaka is busy with work, and his mom, Nadesico died when Touya was 10 years old, he has MANY part time jobs after school. This explains why he happens to turn up anywhere when Sakura and her friends go shopping or eating out. He also does his share of house chores, and he's very good at cooking. His best recipe are rice omelette and fried noodles.
Touya is one VERY protective brother. He has been by Sakura's side ever since she was born, and she is one of the most important things to him (if not the most important). This is the main reason why he hates Shaoran. The first time he laid eyes on him was when Syaoran was forcing Sakura to give him the cards. He runs top speed to the other side of the fence, jumps between the two kids, grabs Syaoran's collar, gives the Death Glare and yells in his face: WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING TO MY SISTER?! Since then, everytime they see each other, the Great Glaring Competition follows, and it goes on for minutes. Even when Syaoran became Sakura's friend, and his attitude had changed, Touya still hates him. There was even one cute scene during New Year's Day:
Touya-kun: Syaoran? Isn't that the brat from Hong Kong?
Sakura: Shaoran-kun is not a brat, oniichan!
Touya-kun: Yes he is.
Sakura: Shaoran-kun is a good person, and despite our start, he's very helpful and kind now.
Touya-kun: Hmph. *aside* That's why I don't like him...
Sakura: Hoe? What did you say?
Touya: *walks away* Just don't eat the cards...Kaijuu.
You know the rest...I guess Touya-kun spotted the crush early on. He even told Yukito that Syaoran is slowly taking away one of the most important things in his life, which is, needless to say, is Sakura.
Touya also has powers that he inherited from his mom, as well as from his dad (Oh no! spoilers!). He can sense danger when somebody is in trouble (especially Sakura) He can talk to, see and feel spirits. That's partially the reason why, when he was still in Junior High, he likes to go to the Tsukihimine Shrine, and met Mizuki Kaho. They fell in love with each other, but Mizuki-san left Japan to go to England.
Notes about the name:
Touya means "peach blossom".
Everyone in Seijou High (and the rest of the world) calls Touya "Kinomoto-san", except for Yukito, who calls him "To-ya", and Nakuru, who calls him "Touya-kun". Sakura, of course, calls him "Oniichan". Tomoyo calls him "Touya-san".
