Finances

  • Eurorail will cost between 200 and 300 pound depend on zone and your age - Best way for transport.
  • Hostels average about 9-12 pound a night
  • To save time and money you may plan your journey for overnight train to another country.
  • Food will average about 6-8 pound a day. That is if you don't eat out every meal. I suggest you go to local markets and buy fruit and bread for cheap.
  • Possible apply a Hostel card in advance.
  • Spending money will vary depending on how much you want to buy that is not necessary. I spent about 650 pound on spending money on my three week vacation.

Money Tips:

  • Bring an ATM card or cash card - Natwest and Barclays are widely accepted in most Europe country. Convinient money machines are located all around the cities of Europe.
  • Don't forget your credit card. Credit cards are usually accepted anywhere.
  • Travelers checks are great to have for emergency situations. If you are in a bad situation in which your cash card and/or credit card is not working you have travelers checks to rely on.
  • Remeber to buy a money belt to store your money in. Although they are sort of annoying, they truely do protect you and your precious money. Pick pocketer in Italy train station by small kids are very common I am almost a victim and or I could have been in serious trouble.
  • Change some small amount of foreign money about 10 pound for each country you plan to visit.
