Life Story

(The following is a recording taken from Ginger Town five minutes after its destruction.   It can be found in the DBZ episode "His Name Is Cell."   The recording contains the life confession of the monster known as Cell, answering Piccolo Daimao's questions before the Namek's execution.   All words spoken are Cell's and no one else.   Any other action or words unrelated to Cell is put in parenthesis.)

(Piccolo demands the creatures name and source of his power.)

*Cell laughs*   Very well.   Since you're literally "dying" to know, I don't see any harm in telling you.   My name is Cell.   I am an android.

(Piccolo quieries.)

I am the single greatest achievement of my creator, Dr. Gero.

(Piccolo growls.)

You see, in his efforts to create the supreme fighting organism, Dr. Gero devised a means by which he could fuse the [DNA] of the world's greatest fighters into one, and then cultivate that [DNA] into a singular invincible entity. Unfortunantly, for the good doctor, however, he realized that his project was far too complex to be completed during his lifetime.   As such he diverted his attention to more immediate pursuits, but only after he had programed his computer to finish the enormus task which he had begun.   The computer worked tirelessly to complete the fusion of [DNA] of the greatest fighters ever to walk the Earth.   Warriors such as the Saiyan Nappa, the young but powerful Gohan, and of course [DNA samples] were gathered from you, Piccolo, in hopes that your great strength and determination might also be harnessed for our purposes.

Most notably, perhaps, the [DNA samples] of Goku was incorperated into the design, as was those of the mighty Saiyan prince Vegeta.   Ultimatly, these [DNA samples] and others were formed into one.   And although the traits of some where chosen to be more dominate than others in the final design, at least some element of each was retained.

(Piccolo understands that Cell learned ki attacks such as the Kamehameha when he inherited DNA from each warrior.)

That's right.   But Goku's weren't the last I would inherit however.   In a most fortunante turn of events, Freeza paid a "brief" visit to Earth.   And although he was mostly machine at the time, it was possible to extract a few remaining [DNA samples] shortly before he met his end at the hands of Trunks.   Trunks' [DNA] would have been collected, but Dr. Gero's computer determined that there was already a suffeciant collection of Saiyan powers within my [genetic] make up.

(Piccolo asks how Dr. Gero got the DNA.)

*Cell crosses his arms* There is a simple explanation.   By now you must have heard of Dr. Gero's tracking device?   The tracking device is very small, insect-like, comprable to a common housefly.   *He points over his shoulder*   There, do you see it?   It's watching us at this very moment waiting for an oppertunity to gather more [DNA samples].   Quite remarkable, don't you agree?   *Cell laughs*

(Piccolo destroys the device with a ki blast.)

*Cell laughs* Excellent work, Piccolo.   But once again, I'm afraid you've only managed to waste your efforts.   The computer already has the cells it needs for my completion back at the lab.

(Piccolo announces that the lab had been previously destroyed.)

Luckily, the computer was hidden in a bunker below the laboratory.

(Piccolo predicts that one of the Z fighters will find and destroy the computer in due time.)

Don't be absurd.   The computer will work undisturbed for the next 24 years, at which time, I'll be completed.   Now then, let's put an end to all this chit chat.

(Piccolo asks one last question.   He wants to know why Cell traveled from the future to the present.)

My, you're full of questions.   Well, I suppose I'll answer this last one, it's quite simple, really.   You see, I cannot reach my perfect form on the energy of humans alone.   According to the computer, I'm looking for a very specific sorce of energy.   More to the point, I require the energy of Androids 17 and 18.   You see, the powers of Vegeta, Goku, Freeza, and so many others are incorperated into my being.   But even these powers pale in comparison to the strength of the androids.   It is this strength that I must possess for myself.

Unfortunantly, from the time which I came, Androids 17 and 18 no longer existed.   They had somehow been destroyed by Trunks, and along with them my hopes of ever reaching my final, perfect form.   Luckily, I had discovered that Trunks possessed a time capsule which I decided to "borrow" for myself.   I despenced of young Trunks easily enough, but getting inside the time capsule proved to be a much more intresting challenge.   As I had mentioned before, in order to fit inside the time capsule, I was forced to regress to my larval form.   That being accomplished, I activated the machine and was instantly transported to another time and place.   A time in which I hoped to find Androids 17 and 18 alive and well.   In which I could realize the full potential of my power.

Understandably, I couldn't begin my search while still in my larval state.   I had to wait until I had regained my fighting shape.   And so, I burrowed into the ground where for the last four years I had been lying in wait, gestating, gathering my strength, growing into the superior being you see before you today.

(Piccolo asks why Cell chose to come to the particular time he did.)

I didn't.   The coordinants were preset by Trunks.   I merely pushed a button and the machine went where it was programed to go.   *Cell adds*   The computer told me one more thing: once I have absorbed the other androids I will be the most powerful being who has ever lived!

(Piccolo states that Cell is the most powerful being in his current state.)

This is true, but my design was meant to include 17 and 18.   Without them, I can never be complete.   I have to seek them out, it is what I was created to do.   Of course, it may also be the blood of Vegeta and Freeza coursing through my veins which fuels my desire for more power.

(Piccolo understands.)

Now, are we done talking?

(Piccolo then proceeds to regenerate his injured arm, and declares war on Cell's cause.   Cell's confession ends here, but he makes two more during the Cell saga.   I'll try to get those up here too.)

Personality

So, what is this guy like?

Well, all three of his forms give the illusion that each one has its own personality. Look closely:
-His imperfect, or first, form seems very sly and sneaky.   He hides if more than one person challenges him, and he seems to think his way out of any tight situation.

-His half perfect, or second, form is as stupid as it is ugly.   Although very strong and can take a lot of damage, it is very slow and not very manuverable.   Also, Cell was very cocky in this form, since absorbing 17 gave him a very big power boost.

-His perfect, or final, form has lots of stamina, strength, speed, intelligence, and agility.   Truely a perfect warrior, he can take lots of damage without feeling a thing, can create complex stratigies, send a human flying miles away with a flick of a finger, and can move faster than any eye can track him.   So much could be said about this form, but I'm taking up web space.

Of course, like I said, it is an illusion.   Cell is pretty much the same guy in each form, he just gained more experience about "playing with the big boys" by the time he became perfect and he wised up a little.

This is Cell in all three forms:

-He is very polite to anyone he meets, but he gets very nasty to anyone who makes him angry

-He is very clever and smart, however.....he's hasn't made very wise decisions in his life.   Most of such decisions gave disasterous results on Cell's part (i.e. Telling Piccolo who he was, underestimating Vegeta, etc...)

-Is it just me, or does he have a serious crush on 18?   See "My Theories" for more details.

-He's pretty used to getting what he wants when he wants it and having things going his way.   When things aren't going his way, he panics!   Have you ever noticed this?

Well, this is all I have for now.   I'll update this in the near future after I make more finds.   Check back here often!

His likes

What does he like? Here's a little list I made:

That's all I have for now. Keep checking back for more!

His Dislikes

What does he dislike (or extremly dispise)? Here's a little list I made:

Now, you guys do realize that I'm being humorous and I'm kinda guessing what he would like and what he wouldn't like.   None of this reflects on me...except for the Battlefield Earth one.   Who does like that movie?   NOBODY!   So, take no offence for any of this...except if you are from Iraq, Iran, or if your name is Osama Bin Laden or Siddam Husane...oh yeah, take plenty of offence...

The Wheels in his Head

We know that Cell is composed of the strongest fighters on the Planet Earth, or those who set foot on Earth.   Does it show?   What has he inherited from these fighters?   Which "traits became more dominant than others?"   Well...let's take a look...

Goku
Incredible strength, speed, ability to become a Super Saiyajin, the Kamehameha, Genki Dama(Spirit Bomb), Kaio-ken?
Gohan
Strength, loyalty, reason, the Masenko?
Piccolo
Strength, determination, the regeneration technique, intelligence, green skin, Makkankosappo(Special Beam Cannon), lazer eyes
Krillin
Judgement of human beauty?, Kienzan, hard head?
Yamcha
???
Tenshinhan(Tien)
Taioken(Solar Flare) technique, baldness?
Vegeta
Garret Gun technique, strength, strategy, temper, additude, cockyness
Trunks
None, Trunk's DNA was not used in Cell's design
Chao-tzu
Dondoppa(Dodon Ray)?
Bulma?
Technological intellgence?
Dr. Gero
Thinking process.   Yes, it's true, Gero used his own DNA to help shape Cell, and therefore Cell uses the same tactics Gero did when he was still running around.   Have you noticed that?
Androids 17 and 18
Barrier technique, unlimited supply of life energy, strength, playfulness?
Freeza
Directed Kienzan technique, Finishing Move, pale skin, ears, ego
King Kold
Height, feet, strength, accent?

That's about it. To be updated soon if I'm missing anybody.

My Theories

Well, now that we know pretty much everything about Cell by now, what do I think about him?   Well, I'll tell you what I think, along with some quotes of his to back me up.   Here we go!

Well, I had mentioned before that he likes having things going his way.   When things aren't going his way, he panics.   Remember when he had sucked out Piccolo's arm, and Piccolo grew it back and took Cell by surprise? Cell flipped because he had told Piccolo everything about him, and practically ruined his chances of completing his mission.   Quote: "You tricked me! I should have known you were up to something! *growls*"

Also, he tries to hide his fear a lot.   He mostly hides it behind a smirk or an amused laugh.   Coming back to the scene with Piccolo, we can see Cell despretly trying to keep his cool, but that look on his face and that thrashing tail shows us how he's really feeling.   His words show how much cool he actually has.   Quote: "Very cunning. Feining weakness just long enough to regenerate your arm. *chuckle* Perhaps my superior mind came from you."   There are many examples where "cover ups" like this happen, but another great one was when Gohan became SSJ2 for the first time.   Cell's face clearly showed fear, but just a few seconds later, he's smiling cockily and sounds pleased with what happened.   Quote: "There you are. You've finally come out of hiding."

This is my honest opinion and no one elses.   I think Cell is girl crazy.   We haven't seen him absorb one woman in the show.   However, he does absorb them, but I think he just chases them around a little to hear them scream.   Remember Basil Airport?   He chased around that one girl...well, actually he walked after her, but she was screaming her head off.   Cell looked like he was having fun with that situation until Krillin came and saved her.   Another case of this happening was when Cell stormed the television studio.   There were two women behind the desk screaming at the top of their lungs.   He didn't seem to mind, he just calmly and politely asked them the direction to the news room and he thanked them after they pointed him the way.   Did you see him grinning ear to ear during this scene?   He can be a real sicko at times, I know...

I had also mentioned before...he seems to have a crush on Android 18.   How clear is this? Rather clear, if you're looking and listening for it.   Quote: "Android 18, poetry in motion..."   A little admiration...

He also teases her a little.   Quote: "And you, my little peach...I'm gonna gobble you up! *lol*!"   She was absolutely scared when he said that (truth be told, that was just extra dubbing.   He said no such thing in the Japanese version; he just turned his head to her and she freaked).

And it got a whole lot worse when Cell absorbed 17 and then started picking on 18, using that Hannible Lector influence he has.   He started talking to her like she was the only woman he'd ever seen before.   Quote: "18, don't you realize you are mine?   We belong together."   True, he was trying to absorb her and become perfect, but I think he was trying to pick up on her too.   He licked his lips at one point, and 18 had a "sexual harassment" look on her face.   Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't.   It's my theory that Cell was girl crazy.

NEW!   Cell's aim sucks. Has anyone noticed this? He only admits it in the Japanese version of the show. When he stabbed Piccolo's arm with his tail instead of the Namek's chest, he just blew it off at first.   Quote: "I hit your arm, didn't I? It doesn't matter."   He mentions it again at the Cell games. After Goku took him to Kaio-sama's planet, and Cell blew up and came back, he shot Trunks. Here's the quote that follows at the dust settles:   Quote: "Who did I hit? Trunks?"   Cell has the aim of an Imperial stormtrooper, and he calls himself perfect?!

NEW!   Staying on the subject of things Cell isn't good at, fighting was one of them.   Starting off, Cell was not a very good fighter.   You couldn't blame him, really.   He spent 24 years of his life in the future, where the only guy to worry about was Trunks, and he was a sinch!   Then, he spent the next four years underground, and all he did was sleep.   It's no wonder he had a struggle with Piccolo when they first fought.   (Well, actually, it wasn't fair on Cell's part, the boys had been training like crazy for three whole years....)   But during Cell's first fight with Piccolo, Cell was....obveiously losing.   He's a jabber, meaning he tends to jab rather than punch, and that's not a good tactic to use in fast-paced fights (although it's great for defensive purposes).   He won the next fight he had with Piccolo (trying to absorb the androids) by absorbing more humans than needed to attain his full power.   Only by fighting other people and learning from them made him any better, and not to mention the power-ups the androids gave him.   Overall, Cell was not the best fighting villain in all DBZ, but rather the guy who won by outsmarting his opponants and just being more powerful than them.

This is all I can think up of for now, so check back for updates!
