Today’s class is cancelled. Use the time for today’s
cancelled class to work with your presentation partner on your presentation.
This weeks
class topic, Cybercrime, is postponed to next week. There will be an assignment related to
cybercrime given next week.
Because of my absence today, the
presentation schedule will be revised which may change the date of your
presentation. The revised presentation
schedule will be available on this website later today.

I have decided to eliminate last
week’s class topic instead of moving it forward to this week’s class. The course will continue as scheduled in the
course outline. There is an assignment for this week’s class.

Today’s class is cancelled due to my
being very ill. Consequently, I will
alter the course because this week’s topic is very important. This week’s topic will occur next week (week
5), next week’s topic will occur the following week (week 6). I may incorporate one week’s topic into
another week’s class, or eliminate one week’s topic, or reduce the number of
classes for presentations, but I will decide that as the course progresses.
Next week there will be an assignment
and I will be putting people in groups of two for the presentations. If there’s another student in the class who
you would like to be partnered with, and that person agrees, I will put you
together. You should be thinking about
two potential alternative topics for your presentation and have them ready for
next class. Your topics can be about
anything to do with information technology except product demos (Steve Jobs does those.) and the content of your presentation should not
include information already covered in class.
A few general examples of topics are: A biography of someone important
in information technology; The history of the
development of an information technology or component(s) of an information
technology; An important use of information technology; How to setup and use an
information technology but not a product demo; An issue related to the use of
information technology. Your
presentation must use information technology such as PowerPoint and be between
10 and 12 minutes long (you will be timed).
You and your partner should share equally in developing the presentation
and in presenting. You and your partner
must practice your presentation so that it appears to be extemporaneous
which means your presentation must not be read from notes and/or the screen,
you should appear relaxed and confident because of your thorough familiarity
with the content of your presentation.
Your presentation materials, PowerPoint, documents, pictures, etc., must
be submitted to me on a computer readable CD at the beginning of the class you
are scheduled to present. Your CD must
not have any viruses, worms, trojans, or other nasties which can infect a computer. If the content in your CD infects the
computer, there will be dire consequences to your presentation grade (possibly
zero). Before the presentations begin, I
will put the content of your CD in a folder in the classroom computer to be
used for your presentation. There will
also be a question and answer period immediately after your 10 to 12 minute
presentation. You should be familiar
enough with the content of your presentation to competently answer
questions. If you have any questions,
email them to me at the course email address: cfadw13183@yahoo.ca
