The 2005 Canada Trade Mission to China
holds a very special meaning towards Canadian’s bilateral relations with
China. Celebrating the thirty fifth anniversary of Canada-China
diplomatic relations, it was also the first time the Honorable Prime
Minister Paul Martin officially visited China. This mission therefore has
been highly regarded by both nations. Canadian Foundation Center for
International Education (CFCIE) is honored to be invited as one of the
trade mission members. From January 19 to 25, 2005, Prof. Samuel Rong,
Chairman and CEO of CFCIE joined the Canada Trade Mission Team led by Hon.
James Peterson, Canada’s Minister of International Trade visiting
Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong. Below are the highlights of the mission:

19, 2005 – Shanghai
Hosted by Hon. James
Peterson, Minister of International Trade, Canada, Prof. Samuel Rong,
Chairman and CEO of CFCIE attended various business programs in Shanghai –
China’s largest commercial centre.

21, 2005 – Beijing
Afternoon:
During the official signing
ceremony which was held at the China World Hotel, Canadian Foundation Center
for International Education (CFCIE) signed two education cooperation
agreements with Shenyang Ligong University and ChongQing University of Post
and Telecommunications for establishment of Sino-Canadian International
College (SCIC).
The ceremony was attended
by Canadian government officials and witnessed by directors of Chongqing
Educational Committee and Liaoning Provincial Department of Education.
