You can see any doctor at the practice, not just the doctor you are registered with.

We encourage patients to stick with their usual doctor, whenever possible and to follow through an illness with the same doctor.

For routine problems please plan ahead, so that you will be more certain to be able to see the doctor you want, when you want.

Surgery Times

The surgery is open between 8.30am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday.

On Saturdays there is a surgery FOR EMERGENICES ONLY from 9.00am to 10.30am.

NB: We are not able to deal with requests for repeat prescriptions or test results on Saturdays.

Urgent Problems

We reserve some appointments each day for urgent medical problems. For urgent problems it is not possible to specify a particular doctor. Please do not request an emergency appointment unless your problem is urgent, as this will deny other patients access to that emergency appointment.

Cancellations

Please cancel appointments you cannot keep as soon as possible. When appointments are not kept or cancelled too late to refill, other patients have to wait longer to get an appointment.

Patients who fail to attend for booked appointments will be sent a letter reminding them that they have wasted and appointment. Patients who repeatedly miss appointments or who fail to attend for urgent appointments will be asked to find an alternative practice to register with.

Lateness

Patients who arrive more than 20 minutes late for their appointment will ususally be asked to re-book.

Central Gateshead Medical Group is a busy practice and we therefore apologise if sometimes you are kept waiting for your appointment.
