Please remember that the out of hours service is for urgent problems
only. Routine problems divert doctors away from real emergencies.
Particularly
serious symptoms include:
- Severe chest pain with sweating / breathlessness / nausea
- Collapse with unconsciousness at any age
- Difficulty breathing sufficient to make speaking or movement difficult
- Babies or young children who seem drowsy or ‘floppy’, particularly if accompanied by temperature / rash / vomiting / breathlessness.
In these cases contact a doctor immediately or call 999.
Patients with injuries involving possible broken bones should also go directly to Accident & Emergency.
Out of hours, the practice uses the Gateshead Doctors Co-op ‘Gatdoc’.
