Jonathan Berger's Poetry: Poem of the Day |
DESPITE YOUR FLAWS I've been thinking about you a lot lately. Thinking about the big picture the whole package. You're definitely a fixer-upper, that's for sure. You've got some problems… But I think I can get past them. I think that despite your uneven smile and despite your never using it… Despite your crying jags And you're insipid attempts to assimilate, understand, associate with me and mine despite the fact you couldn't find a good time at a Virus Convention… Despite your crow's feet and your sad singing style and your mad desire to please everyone around you no matter how little they deserve it. Despite your stupidity and your earnestness and your sappy sayings and your hope for a brighter tomorrow… Despite your pleasures in the mainly mundane and despite your unwillingness to be tamed despite your need to be free and your express interest in me… Despite all this despite your flaws despite your faults I'd be willing to spend the rest of my life with you. Yeah, I think you'll do. |
