| Jonathan Berger's Poetry: Poem of the Day |
| REALITY AS I SEE IT It was with my eyes closed that I saw the light after that sausage and donut pizza that I became hungry for knowledge I realized in the darkest night the truth about life, America and the Conspiracy: The spacemen are behind it all. Of course they took Elvis; everybody knows that. And they ate the Lindbergh baby, as well. But in my fevered state, I see so many other lines that connect this world wide web of destruction and instruction and the construction industry, too. They’re out to get me, you know. They seek my demise, or my dermatological records or my denim. The spacemen are looking to get rid of me because they see that I’m the only one who’s on to them. Anyone else who speaks of the spacemen is speaking in tongues speaking delusionally speaking like thieves and losers and drunks. Only I know. Only I know the truth. They use subtle means to arrest my development crush my opposition destroy me from within. They use means so subtle that I don’t even know what they are but I know they’re out there oh yes. The sausage and donut pizza told me so… Worse, I know my fate if anyone else ever finds out the truth. The spacemen, they have devices far beyond our ken they have science like magic and magic like Harry Anderson and they’re not afraid to use it to wipe me out. If one other person learns what I’ve learned if another soul hears my tale they will use their Venusian Blind Spotlight on me and that’s that. So whatever you do don’t listen to a word I say or it may be my last. What? What did you say? Oh… shit. |
