November ... October ... sometimes September! My
friends begin talking early of New Year's Eve (NYE)
plans. We argue for months over cost, location,
attendance, value, etc. and most years we plan nothing
and split into several groups. Amazingly, for the
Millennium NYE, we managed to arrange a successful
night with a large group. The other years, there have
been a combination of parties, debacles and generally
good memories.
The Millennium New Year's Eve (1999/2000)
We decided to go to Greenwood,
North Sydney, to join 5000 other
people who purchased tickets at a fair price. The
night started ordinarily for half of us as some queue
for hours. Luckily, Sal & I got in with relatively
little wait and trouble. The rest of the night was
terrific for all.
The
alcohol was free and flowing (besides running out of
coke!). The outside bars were unattended near midnight
so people helped themselves and grabbed whole
champagne bottles! The view of the harbour fire works
was special and the photo below is around midnight
(near the time I received far too many celebratory
kisses!)
The
night became my : Best ... New Year's Eve ... Ever.
