Forest Killarney Soccer 2002

Mike Anderson showed his management prowess by pulling together a great bunch of lads for Forest Killarney AL5s in 2002. Getting the team together was not easy and would never have happened if not for Mike (as we saw when he decided to play higher grade, IE most stopped playing).

Being my maiden season, I didn't get many minutes on the field (3 halves) and mainly I kept. Having fast reflexes, height and reach, I managed to have some solid games and good saves (this lead to one of my nick names - "The Messiah"). However, lack of experience and dislike of leaving my feet & line saw some raw mistakes. The worst of which included a nightmare finish to the season allowing the only goal of our semi-final. A mistake I would dearly liked to have avenge the next year. This was not meant to be ...

The season was memorable. I went to school and/or were currently friends with the entire lineup, so you can imagine the social side of the team was fantastic. Lots of funny nights out and laughs before/after games. The perfect introduction into a game which I know I'll will gather more happy moments in the future for being part of.
