Mother was gone for a long time, many years, and he had Father all to himself, but then Mother came back and she brought a big ugly baby with her.

When Delia miscarries and dies, Lance holds Red close, and whispers that Youre all I have left with tears in his eyes.
Red smiles into his Fathers jacket, and never tells what he did.
