Charlotte smiles as she watches them. Theyre being discreet, but really, she can tell. They glitter and shine with the power of the moon and darkness, sprinkled with stars, and she wonders how long it will last.
Lance holds Red close, his eyes shadowed, and Red smiles and whispers what may or may not be a promise.
Its sweet.
Red does not want to let go, because hes afraid that Lance will shiver and shatter, ice gilded over his heart of broken shards if he leaves. And Lance wont let go, because he does not want Red to run off to anyone else.
So theyll stay together, and fit perfectly, and never break the pattern.
Lance knows exactly what steps to take, but even so, there is never any constancy in the realm of love, and Red Red is such a changeable boy. He is never perfectly certain if things will stay.
He would like to hope so.
Red tries very, very hard to remember, because he knows that Lance needs him, and Lance loves him, and he wont be a traitor ever again.
Lance is so very fragile inside, and Red doesnt want to break him.
It just happens, and theyre not letting go this time. Ever.
