Sometimes, Gary feels regret. Hes not sure why, because he and Ash arent anything remotely resembling friends any more, and the years have stretched between them like betrayal.
They can never go back.
Hes left his cheerleaders behind; married a nice girl named Amber, and settled down. Hes an up and coming researcher in his own right now, with a baby on the way, and he doesnt think about those days when he was a cocky trainer much.
Still, hes not sure what to feel when he sees Ash again, with Misty clinging to his side, Brock grinning as he dishes up barbeque, May and Max flown in from Houen and Dawn from Shinou, at a birthday party one bright morning in Pallet Town.
He just knows hes not welcome, and that is what he regrets the most.
