Being with Lance makes him happy, Ash thinks. Its nothing hard to understand he is in love, and that is what counts. It doesnt matter what might have happened before, because Ash lives in the present and as long as Lance is with him he knows that he can keep on going. Its like a little golden shield protecting him, enabling him to face the terrors of the day-to-day, and hes not going to give it up for anything, even if someone prettier comes along because that just wouldnt be fair!
Lance isnt sure what causes Ashs change of heart, since he rather expects the boy to be mercurial of temperament, but theyve been together for five years now and he still hasnt let go, so maybe, Lance thinks, maybe its safe to trust his lover and just enjoy it. Theyre kissing under the starlight, and Lance is happy.
