When his parents find out about his relationship with Lance, they disown him.
Red does not understand why it is so bad. True, he wont be able to have grandchildren, but he never cared about such a thing anyway, and its not like Lance is a mass murderer or carrying the plague. But now that they dont have his parents permission, they cannot bond until he is of age twenty-one.
That is still years away!
He really doesnt understand, but it hurts, and even as Lance holds him close, he cant stop crying. He always thought of his parents as nice people, so why are the being so mean?
But when it comes down to it, he will choose Lance over them. Maybe thats why? If thats the case, it does not really matter who or what he falls in love with. The result would be the same.
Certainly, they disowned him, but they cant take away his pokmon, or his badges, or his Championship, and hes glad he still has those things.
And best of all, they cant force him to leave Lance.
He feels bittersweet as Lance caresses his face, and kisses him.
