Willenium (stand
up commedy)
Sydney, July 1999

Having never been to see
stand up comedy before I was not sure what to expect when I decided
to venture to the Globe in Sydney's Newtown to see Will Anderson
last week.
I love him on the Breaky
Show with Adam Spencer so I thought that it was worth a look. The
way the show goes is that Will asks everyone what they would do
if there was an hour to go before the world ended and he bases the
whole thing around this.
It doesn't work if no
body yells anything out and apparently the night before I went there
were 100 people and no body said a thing, so this night Will made
everyone write something down on the way in just incase.
I must say that a big
reason why I went was because I think that Will Anderson is HOT!!
but in the end it was all about the Comedy?!(mmm Maybe). I think
that the show went for about and hour and a half maybe longer and
there was no spaces where I thought that he should just stop.
There were alot of John
Laws jokes and if you go be prepared for the Tasmanian doctor story.
The venue is pretty good but at times the music from downstairs
sort of went over the top of Will which was a bit annoying.
Sara Kendall was the support
comedian and I didn't know this before hand, I wish that I had because
what I saw of her set was unreal. She was one of the Raw Comedy
finalist from last year I think.
Un-like some of the Melbourne
stand up acts that I have seen on TV Will steered away from too
many VIC references for this Sydney gig, which I thought was good.
The best call of the night was definately the one about his own
puffa jacket - "the hyper-colour t-shirt of the 90's". Nice One.
Get along and see the
show it is great.
