LIVID No 13 was lucky
after all! A sell out at a whopping 36, 000 this years LIVID was
the biggest (and some say the best) yet. Despite an ominous forecast
and drizzle on the morning of show day, the weather held out and
stayed happy for the duration of the event.
Injuries on the day were
relatively minor, with the great folks at St Johns Ambulance treating
problems related mainly to heat exhaustion and dehydration. There
were no arrests on site (just a couple off site) and local police
report that the crowd was generally well behaved.
Behind the scenes, in
the backstage area WONDER WOMAN strutted her stuff to the amusement
of all and several band folk took advantage of the special massage
area that was set up for any rockers with stiff necks.
LIVID highlights are too
many to mention but in a nutshell - THE OFFSPRING showed us why
they are currently one of the biggest bands in the world (with Dexter
at one point beating up some inflatable Backstreet Boys dummies)
while MERCURY REV, SHIHAD and YOU AM I blew the roof off the BIG
TOP tent with scorching performances. Hometown boys POWDERFINGER
proved just what a class act they are while GERLING caused a minor
security panic when they invited kids over the punter barricade
to come up on the main stage and dance for their final song. Over
in the LIVID LOUNGE the room was packed with sweaty kids dancing
up a storm.
Also a lucky break for
SPIDERBAIT guitarist WHIT who, after being delayed in the air, arrived
at the venue ten minutes late, picked up his axe and walked on stage
cool as you like. No sweat! POPE ALICE zipped around the site in
her pope mobile spreading the good gospel and GARBAGE were simply
& utterly brilliant. Thanks Shirley!
We'd like to warmly thank
all the bands, fans and media who continue to support LIVID. Thanks
for coming. We'll see you next time around!
