TRIPLE J BACK TO

Note: This isn't an
actual review of a live music gig, rather its Min's thoughts on
the first day back of regular routine for 2000 on triple j. :-)
Well, myself being one
of those obsessive-compulsive Adam Spencer fans, I was not at all
disappointed when I got up at 5:55 am to tune in for the first ever
breakfast show of 2000. The six o'clock shock was a very awakening
Backstreet Boys track called "Larger Than Life" which definitely
woke me up because it sucked so much. It was during this time that
I made myself a cup of freddo shake (yes, I know it's unhealthy,
but it was a special occasion. if you haven't experienced freddo
shake yet, I recommend you try it. Sort of a superior chocolate
quik, and you can definitely taste the freddo-ness. Nine out of
ten.) I don't know if 204 Bell Street returned, but if it did, I
didn't hear either the 6:15 one or the 7:45 one, so I think Sandy
may not be off holidays yet. Also, if anyone can tell me what happened
in the last episode of 99 I'd be much obliged. (I was on a plane
so I think I have a decent enough excuse.)
The six thirty news was
much enjoyed by all, with Karen Barlow back in the chair and doing
a mighty fine job. A few songs in there, including one of my personal
favourites, Thankyou, brings us up to the seven o'clock news, also
by Karen barlow, also the same news I so enjoyed hearing at 6:30.
Post the seven-news, I
was delighted to feel the vibrations of Will Andersen's "Willennium"
(if it's still called that.) I felt he lacked his usual vibrancy
and I didn't piss my pants, but I will forgive him because it was
a) Monday morning and b) the first day back post vacation. Eight
o'clock came around, so did the next news, but then I had to leave
for work. I missed my favourite segment "triple J Breakfast Word
of the Day" because of the shower (grrrrr.)
And merrick and rosso
- back with a wonderfully tidy program this afternoon which I immensely
enjoyed. (from 4 onwards anyway, because I was at work.)
Highlights included:
*Merrick's holiday camping trip where his speedos doubled up as
a pocket for his wallet and a place where snakes like to hide.
*Brooke Satchwell, and rosso's suggestion to have ex neighbours
stars form a show where they just swear blatantly and profusely,
eg Harold and madge in the coffee shop complaining about those f**king
children on their f**king skateboards and that fat porker a***hole
Lou.
*The reptile Pavillion and a new segment called "Not actually very
incredible" or similar, where people ring/fax/send/email their extremely
average, below-par, mediocre stories to them. So poor I thought
it was funny.
We look forward to tomorrow
(Tightarse Tuesday) and the opposite-to-penultimate day of radio
normalcy.
