KILLING HEIDI
Forest Place, Perth
5 Dec 1999
by Trisha Farnan

It
was a hot day in Perth on Sunday, 5th of December, when Killing
Heidi were going to perform free in Forest Place (well, just outside
of it). But I was rearing to go. That day I had another thing
to do: go to the Rock It festival, which included Beaverloop,
Jebediah, Killing Heidi and silverchair, who headlined. So I was
pumped. I met my friend Cheryl on the train and we headed into
town to see Killing Heidi live and get our cd singles signed.
When
the band came out it was so exciting. They talked to this bald
guy (I think he was from 96 fm or something) and Ella was so sweet,
as usual. Then they kicked into their set - it was acoustic, so
Adam spent the whole gig sitting at the signing table - as you
can see from one of my pictures. Ella's voice was beautiful as
per usual, and their renditions of songs like "Mascara", "Kettle",
"Superstar" and "Weir" (it's been so long I can't remember all
of them!) were stunning. Ella was really good with the crowd (also
as usual), talking between songs and being generally cheerful.
Overall, despite the
heat, it was such a good day. Especially when we went up to get
our cds signed. Ella and the gang were all so nice, nice enough
that they let us get a photo taken with them, as you can see.
Afterwards we headed on to Rock It - I got a few pics of Killing
Heidi there but they were no where near as good - or as close
- as these. Rock It rocked (as the title would suggest) and I
went home tired but content. Afterwards I was utterly convinced
that Killing Heidi are not only an awesome band but very nice
too.
